My friend found an 02 kenworth that has been crashed, the engine and everything still looks good. I need to know what the turbo is and how big and if it will work on my truck, I have an hx40 and want to know if I could make a twin set up with that

Cat generally uses Garret turbos. It would probably be physically too large and heavy but anything is possible.

I have a Garrett on my 14 liter Detroit. It weighs 72 lbs according to the packing slip on a new one. I imagine the turbo on the engine would depend on which Cat it is, and there are several. In an '02, it's probably a 3406-E or even a 3406-C if it was built with a late '01 engine, which many were. But, it might be an 11 liter too, which was a 3176 i think. Anyway, turbo could be most anything until the engine is better identified.

devan if you can get me the engine serial number i can tell you eveything there is about that engine. i work for cat and therefore have access to sis(service information system) i can pull any spec on that engine for you

Oh I understand that, all mine say cat but I was under the impression that they were made for Cat by Borg Warner. And unfortunately I know a stock charger for a 2001 C-15 is around $1700. 00. :D Not looking forward to replacing the Acert twins if they eat themselves.

Not sure the exact size or make of the turbos for cat but the Cummins engines use the HT3B which is a very common bottom turbo for the HX-40!

Found something interesting on ebay. Go there and type in item no. 180138448977(I'd give you a link but I don't know how) Looks like they give you a choice of 4 different turbine housings.
