I have a 2001 quad cab. On top of the roof centered 8 inches from the 3rd brake light is a steathy looking black antenna or sensor. What is it??

I thought it was the sensor for the console tempature reading.

Does anybody else have this on their roof??

if you bought it used, it might be a sat. radio reciver, or maybe a GPS recevier... take a pic and post it up.

(PS. great quote in the sig!!! :D )

It is XM Radio

I went outside and looked at it closely, it has "XM" on top of it. I assume

it means Xm Radio. It looks factory mounted nice and neat. Plus, I found my water leak. The small antenna flat wire is ran throught he 3rd brake light gasket.

I looked on the internet and found a couple of websites. This is some kind of factory option. Some cars and trucks were prepped with satelite radio features, I think. It says, some factory radios are able to recieve the signals with a subscription to xm radio.

Check out this link and it explains it better.

If you still have the factory radio, somewhere in the menu options (or owners manual) it will have the ESN# (Electronic Serial Number) that you need to activate XM. . I think that's how XM works too... Sirius does. .

IF you order XM. . I think you will be pleased.

Chrysler uses sirius not xm :D The factory sat radio ant wire goes through the sheetmetal.

That's way over priced, if it will even work with pre-2003 radios. I think it will.

Check here for same thing for a lot less.

I would follow the antenna wire and see if the previous owner left the tuner box in the truck, you may be closer to Sat radio than you think.
