I have a 1996 dually with 4. 10 gears. It has 215-85 tires. I would like to go as tall as I can when replacing them next month. I was told 235-85 will work but the duals will run very close and anything wider/ taller will rub sidewalls under load. Any input here on a solution or past attemps such as this? Also, anyone have a front 1 ton chrome wheel cover?

What you've been told sounds about right. If you run heavy, be careful with those 235's because they can rub and lead to failure. The 2001 and up rim offset is different, allowing for up to a 255' tire without a fear of rubbing under load. A number of members have used spacers, I'm not sure of what size tire this allowed them to achieve.

Straight from the horse's mouth.......

Might be worth a quick peek at the Rickson Truck website and possible a follow-up phone call to Dan or Matthew. What those guys don't know about "what fits what on different model year trucks, tire sizes (stock and 19. 5s) et. al. ain't worth knowing. "

PWeber, you can get the spacers at www.wheeladapters.com should run you about $250. 00 for the pair. Make sure you run the two inch spacers if you order them or else your factory studs will be to long and will have to be ground down to keep from hitting the outside wheel. I have been running 295x75x16 for about 6 months and tow every day. Hope this helps. Jason
