just curious as to what is happening with the coronavirus around the country since you can’t trust the news so much. Curious if case counts are up for everyone. I am in western Illinois we just had restrictions put back on bars and restaurants to prohibit indoor dining and force them to close early. Many places are openly saying they won’t close or follow the restrictions. Most stores have a mask mandate I believe forced by the state. Maybe 60-70 percent of shoppers comply. Schools are generally open in some form of mixed learning except some that have temporarily shut down for an outbreak. Cases and hospitalizations are up usually 40-60 new cases per day in an area probably serving 60-70 thousand people. “Free” testing is available in several places. Just wondering what other parts of the country are seeing happen.

The school where I am currently working is 100% virtual for a minimum of 2 weeks due to the county wide case count. It was recommended by the department of ed that all schools in that county close to in person instruction. Hopefully those kids will be back soon.

The HS that one of my daughters attends has been shut down for almost 2 weeks due to an outbreak in that school. They are supposedly going back tomorrow morning.

We are fortunate the grade school our kids are at things are pretty normal with some protocols and kids are in masks all day. There have been a few cases and some kids quarantined but no spread so far. The two high schools in town only have half the kids attend every other day and many county schools have to let out early so teachers can work with virtual students. I think a lot of kids are getting short changed.

Until the shutdown, the school where I work was 5 days a week for the kids just like always with an option for students to learn online if desired. It was working very, very well. I was very disappointed when the shutdown was passed down by the department of ed. Hopefully, the students will be able to return soon.

I'm in NW NJ our township has had 34 total cases since March. Have about 5800 people in the township.

We are at 25% for indoor dining, my 1 kid goes to school Monday, Tues, Thur, Friday all half days, Wed is all virtual.

Stores are stocked pretty well not too many shortages, sometimes you have to wait for stuff to come in like cleaning wipes. You get creative for sure.

We wear our masks inside the stores and the sort and social distance and the sort. But we are back to as normal as can be.

At work temperature checks and health questionnaire daily with a 24hr look ahead to ensure no impacts, stay home when sick or household member is sick with pretty much anything till it clears or you get tested.

It's been much better then back in March.

PPE is still an issue for smaller health care locations and businesses.

Just gotta stay positive, wash your hands, don't touch your face, social distance.

The Safeway store in my town removed the "masks required" sign at the entrance and scraped up all of the stickers from the floor about a month ago... It seems that everyone is tired of stepping in what our news media is feeding us... At least we've stopped hoarding toilet paper!!!

Is anyone still worried about the flu??? Meaning, all of the last several varieties that went on vacation when this Covid guy showed up for work???

We are set back again as of this morning. We are losing businesses daily..
Cold weather is coming and everyone will be stuck at home....

As far as the out of staters quarantining ... what a load of horse manure...more non Maine license plates here than ever and has been right along...close the border and then I might take it seriously...

House listings under $200k out here are 99% under contract. I don't know where they are from if its investors or actual families but if you look on Zillow and click on almost every house its under contact. You can click away and they are all taken up. Realtors that have listings are doing well, mortgage companies are slammed I have a friend who's wife is in the business as like an underwriter they are just swamped.

With average taxes in the mid $6k, affordable housing is slim pickings for alot of people starting out around here anyway. Will see if this is some sort of bubble in a few years or whats up and things really improve with better services based on newer people to support better internet and the sort.

I have several customers who are new home contractors. They all say they are busier this year than ever and have turned away more work than they ever have. I guess interest rates are good. It seems our area always lags behind if there is an economic slump for some reason.

Mike are your schools open? Your numbers for the whole state aren't much worse than the county I am in with 65,000 people. We have been averaging 40 or so cases per day in the county. They have Illinois split up in several regions but for restrictions but basically all regions are going backwards now.

I live in Kendall County, IL. and starting Nov 4, 2020 region 2 will be recycled to Phase 1. No indoor dining and limited seating out doors with all of the school districts in fluctuation. I have two teachers in my family in two different school districts with their children in different districts. They are pulling their hair out trying to sort out the E-learning and finding someone to watch the children. They do not want us nor the other grandparents, to be too involved since we are, as they say old (over 70’s).

Oh well we will get thru this too and look back on it as an in convince. If you were a child of the 40’s, 50’s, you livid thru the POLIO crisis of that era and do not even remember it. Do You?

Schools open right now, but my district is making three bus runs per route instead of one. Gonna wear the buses out.

An inside source tells me that we are a heartbeat away from a yellow alert at the schools which will put the kids home at least three days per week. People that are trying to work while the kids are in school are going to suffer yet again....

I can't wait for flu and cold season....

I got a swab up the nose a couple weeks back when a manager panicked over a sick employee....guy just had a cold but you can not un-ring the bell....I see that happening a lot this winter.....

Southern Jersey, A few positive cases last few weeks. People that have tested positive don’t have anything much of symptoms. Very slight fever an headaches. Only one was in intensive care for a few days. No new deaths reported in over 3 months in Cape May county. Quite a bit of quarantining of people that work with the positive cases but all have tested negative so far. 25% indoor dining an at this point no change expected.

We currently have all businesses open but restaurants at 50% capacity. Has not been a significant factor to lots of places as they moved outside to make up for the seating they lost inside (restaurants given up to 50% in June). Small capacity activities are good - small plays, comedy shows, etc. parents can go to school sports. Big crowd things are still no go (no big concerts, minor league ball games, no big crowds at school sports, etc). Wear a mask when you go in a business. I am working from home, my wife goes into work (she works at a medical school). My wife wears a mask at work and is behind a plexiglass shield. One case at the medical school (a student).

Elementary and high schools have alternated a little as cases have sprung up at some schools. Going to be tough for restaurants as it gets colder now.

In the last couple of weeks daily new cases and new hospitalizations are as high or higher than seen previously. Hospitalizations increasing but system still at good capacity, not stressing system. Good supply of PPE for health care workers (I have a number of friends who are EMTs and nurses).

Latest word is that no further increase in business restrictions foreseen because driver of recent increase are individuals socializing closely in private situations (i.e., party at friend's house).

I am in Erie county in Pennsylvania. In comparison to a lot of places, not bad at all - roughly 2,300 cases and 55 deaths. City of Erie accounts for about two-thirds. One county over (Warren county) has only had 71 cases.

Cases are skyrocketing here. Had an outbreak at work. Between positive cases and quarantine due to contact with positive cases, we've 54 employees out. It's been a nightmare.

Utah, right? You guys are getting hammered. Some places not too bad and others are just swamped with cases. Frontline healthcare workers are heroes for sure.

Just curious...out of those 50 employees, if you know, how many are asymptomatic and how many are severely ill and/or hospitalized ?

Awhile back I took a bunch of different job site requirements and their graphic and put them into an online form for my workers if they think there is an impact. It gives them quick access to some overview of what to do when there is a possible impact.

One large general contractor uses a 1, 2, 3, 4 classification.

#1 is the sick person
#2 has had close contact with a #1 and needs to quarantine and now added get tested.
#3 has had casual contact with a #1, no need to quarantine or get tested but should watch for symptoms. They could be tested if they wanted too now.
#4 has had close contact with a #2 or #3, they are "free to move about the cabin" per say.

It seems to help, I need to update the close contact stuff but its a compilation of a bunch of different sites rules.

On job sites I have seen lots of technology being used to help isolate folks prior to entry and then during the work shift. Some of it is pretty cool.

RFID badges used on some sites that track down to the actual room you enter and it figures out when a person goes positive who was in the same area or room, I'm not 100% on the distance it tracks or if it's just the same room. But there is a transponder in each room.

Other sites have an iPad style temperature check station that takes your picture and temperature tells you what it is, and it even knows if your wearing a mask, it tells you to please wear your mask if your not wearing it at time of the test.

Another site actually uses your wrist area to check your temperature. Thought that was pretty slick it looks like a TSA metal.detector and you hold your arm up and close to the sensor.

If you run hot on your forehead with like an IR your allowed to sit for a few minutes and try again, also can try the back of your neck area.

Have to be careful with some industrial.temperature guns the emissivity is not set up for skin, I think it needs to be 90% and most are 95%, it can give you a reference set so you can tell if one person is elevated from the herd.

Arizona is spiking again. Homedepot, Lowes and Costco are very busy. The rest not so much. Traffic on the highways is as heavy as it is normally at this time. No indoor dances, shows or dinners in the RV park. Most outdoor activities are open with mask required. Attendance at the park is way down without the Canadians being here. We bought the Can Am Spider three wheeler to give us another social distancing activity. Lots of bikes, trikes, and side by side's in the park.
