Hello all,
I'm new to the forum outside of being a reader of threads that have really helped me work on my truck. During some recent fuel pump work, I accidently broke a thin plastic tube/hose but I can't figure out what it is so that I can replace it. It's approximately 1/8" diameter, hard plastic, fairly rigid, runs loosely along the firewall, and was very brittle because it broke easily. It starts at my "mystery part" in the back left corner of the engine compartment right behind the secondary battery and to the left of the A/C. It has an orange wire connector on the back, a hose connection on the front, and the broken plastic hose coming off the bottom. Can anyone tell me what this part and hose is? What does it do? How important is it? Any tips on replacing the broken plastic hose? My truck is an '04 with a 5.9L Cummins.

Thanks for your help!

Like Bob said, splice it with a piece of vacuum hose, available at most auto parts. I've used that method on plastic lines for years.

Thanks for the input! The truck isn't currently running (replacing the fuel pump) so I don't know if the cruise control is working. It's been several months since I used the cruise. I'll pick up something to replace the vacuum hose today and give it a try. It seems like that will work well.

Yes thats the vacuum pump for your cruise control.
The line that goes into the firewall connects only to a vacuum reservoir.
