while looking over my linkage yesterday to attach a twist lock cable so I can hi-idle the old girl I noticed a spring loaded lever on the side of the pump. it looks like its supposed to attach to something but I cant tell what. my friends 89 has the same lever. what is it and what dose it do?

I think that you can drill a hole through the top of the accelerator pedal arm inside the cab, put the cable through it and then place a stop ball on the back side. I believe it is that simple on that truck.

We have done that for years on the electronic engines. You can use a real short cable this way. Great minds think alike mike :-laf David

When the Furd Powerstroke first came out, there were many of commercial bed fitter that didn't know how to make the truck idle up while in the field, running PTO air compressors and hydraulics..... We would install a cable just like that, or an electric solenoid fitted to a bracket that we could adjust out where we needed it, which could be actuated from a switch at the back of the truck... ...
