My truck has thrown the code P1693 after illuminating the engine light on dash twice lately. First time the truck went in to limp mode. Disconnected Batts. for 1/2 hour, cleared code and truck ran fine. Second time, engine light came on, truck rus fine, but light won't go out and code won't clear. Any ideas? I've got a big tow in a little over a week and dont' want problems. anyone?

Thanks,

Craig

Code

That code stands for no commucation between the ecm and pcm. Usually it is a loose connector. Check your connections and drive it to see if it happens again.

specifically, which connections would you suggest checking. Would my comp box have any effect on this.

Thanks smokin'

Craig

It's a companion Code ... ... Allways present

DTC Detected in Companion Module A fault has been generated in the companion engine

control module

Any other codes? If not don't worry it's fine as the code was stored along with something that may have been intermittent.

Check Your connections on anything that YOU have added (Start with the basics)

Thanks for the replies. I guess I won't worry too much. I will check all my connections. I'm just wondering why disconnecting the battery the first time it did this got rid of my check engine light, but this time it won't. Driving around with that engine light on all the time is just annoying. Any other way to get rid of that.

Thanks again guys,

Craig

When the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is lit there has to be an open fault somewhere. DBL check your MAP sensor , and all connections associated with your fueling box. When checking codes make sure to wait til "P Done" is shown in the window to assure ALL codes have been recieved.
