Craftsman Torque Wrench Problem

Large Bore pistons for sale?

Cleaning up my shop today and came upon this thing that I inherited from my Dad. Anyone know what it is for? The bottom is tapped like it is supposed to thread onto some sort of turning tool. The diameter is about 1/2" and about 1" in length.

It does look like an outside deburring tool that might be used on cut round stock & used in a lathe chuck. ?

Wonder if it is a deburring tool, because if it is most likely it would just push the burr over since there is no "cutting" edges on it since the edges contact the mat'l at a negative rake angle. Laymans terms positive rake is a cutting edge and negative rage is a pushing edge (fractures) mat'l. Unless it is for mat'l that fractures easily

Isn't that one of those industrial strength nose hair removers?

Good idea! My Wife said just a few weeks ago that I "... seriously need to get a nose hair clipper... ". I suppose this might work for that purpose. 200-300 RPM might do the trick...

One the serious side I don't think it is any type of cutting tool. The edges are not sharpened at all. My first thought was it was a centering tip for a lathe or similar but I always thought that would be a pointed type of tip and not four pronged. Another idea is that it is used to center some type of rotating equipment like a roller that has a protruding cross on the end that would mate with the v grooves on this thing. My Dad was an offset pressman for 40 years so it is possible this is a part off of some printing press. Maybe will never know for sure.

Anyways, thanks for the responses guys. I get a chuckle out of some of the thoughts and responses that other people have on odd things like this. Cheers.

I haven't watched Norm Abrams in awhile, but it looks like a plug cutter - to cut plugs out of wood stock.

It looks like a deburring tool for reloading cartridges. How big is it? Trimming the brass case edges before loading with powder and seating the bullet.

Nah I looked at it again. It isn't a deburring tool.

Edges don't look sharp enough for cutting or deburring

I must assume the opposite end is drilled and tapped. The flats look to be for tightening with a wrench. I'll take a guess that is some type of specialty manufacturing tool, could be used for staking some flanges or similar purpose. Just my 2 cents.

It looks to me like a tool for turning a special fastener like a theft preventing lug nut. Or some other fastener that is flush with the surface of whatever it is used in.

It looks to me like a nozzle for a high pressure washer. You know like a steam jenny for cleaning.

It looks like some sort of crimping die to be used with a press; I don't think it could be used in a rotary fashion because, as many have already pointed out, the edges that would cut are not sharp enough and the bevel angle it would produce looks a little bit too sharp for deburring.

If it is a nose hair remover, we should try it out on Hillary... .
