It looks like some sort of crimping die to be used with a press; I don't think it could be used in a rotary fashion because, as many have already pointed out, the edges that would cut are not sharp enough and the bevel angle it would produce looks a little bit too sharp for deburring.

If it is a nose hair remover, we should try it out on Hillary... .

LMAO thinking evil thoughts of different places on Hillary for useful application of the tool---Lord,I apologize

Looks to me like one of those things you throw in the bottom drawer incase you ever need it. Get rid of it and you'll need it tommorow.

Obviously that's a left-handed whatchahickie used on the doomafliggins.

And like said above, if you get rid of it you'll be neck-deep in doomafliggin work pronto. :p

As a southpaw I resemble that remark. :-laf

This tool might be for a press to smash a copper rivet, to hold something down. Kinda like a brush holder from a old starter?

Cleaning up my shop today and came upon this thing that I inherited from my Dad. Anyone know what it is for? The bottom is tapped like it is supposed to thread onto some sort of turning tool. The diameter is about 1/2" and about 1" in length.

It might help this guessing game if we knew what your father did.
