Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) What is this wire????

I noticed this wire hanging under my dash and it just made me wonder if it was supposed to be hooked to anything.

About the only thing I got like that on my 99 goes up to the switch on the parking brake mechanism. If you look up there... there should be a copper blade where that connector goes to. Slides on. Its right by a little spring where the pedal hinges on the mechanism. I didn't really pay any attention if it was a ground or a hot wire. I would imagine its for the dash cluster light when the brake is applied. Does your dash light up when the brake is on?

Yeah, my brake light works fine. It does look like a ground wire though since the other end is fastened under a bolt.

Aftermarket brake booster???

Not that I know of? Except for the PMax and guages the truck should be stock. I bought it new from the dealer. I do have the trailer tow package.
