While looking at replacement engines for my truck I noticed that some have a black plastic cover infront of the intake manifold and some don't. What is this? Is it something for an auto trans? My engine does'nt have it, and some that I am looking at don't, and others of the same year do. Anyone have any input on this? Thanks

2003 3500 SRW QC 4x4 NV5600 needs engine

that would be the APPS

i believe the the autos have/had them there not sure we have a 03 auto too and has the Apps there like the 2nd gens

mine is under the batt i believe but the auto is like ya said LF of the head maybe a later year change or a STD/AUTO difference

What is a APPS? The engine is a 03 and my truck is a 03. It must be something to do with the auto vs standard. So can I just remove it and use mine? Where is mine located, and will it hook up the same? Thanks

APPS - accelerator pedal position sensor, thats what tells the ECU how much fuel to inject.

On a manual its probably under the driver side battery. The autos had them mounted on left front of engine because there was the TV cable that ran down to the transmission.

Unbolt it from the new engine and use yours, you may or may not have a plate or mount in that position to move over.

What do you mean a plate or mount to move over? Is there a cable directly from the accelorator pedal to it? If so, yes I will just leave my original one hooked up and get rid of this one. Thanks again.

There may be something else mounted in that position on your original engine that would need to be moved to the new one. Yes, if you follow the cable from the foot feed it will go directly to the APPS.
