Competition D/FW Dyno day results ?

I had my speedo adjusted by a speedo shop in town after I put the 37's on it and thought it was close but guess what I was wrong. I raced a 2001 vette on the freeway and was winning when we let off,but when we pulled over and talked he said we were doing 135mph  . My speedo was reading about 118mph. I guess I should regear it soon.

There's a lot of variables. Auto or stick, gear ratio, tire size..... My truck, auto 4:10 gears, will top out at just over 100 with the stock tires and just over 110 with the 295 85's.

I have hit 131 according to my GPS. I was tached out at 3,300 rpm running against a Mercedes Kompressor. He gave me a thumbs up afterwards. Tires and gearing. ;)

I've seen 115 on mine in a short sprint, and it was still gaining speed like it had a long ways to go yet...

Doubt I'll ever see top speed - too chicken! :-laf :-laf

I will have to try this out. . I work at a racetrack with a mile long straight leading into the fastest first turn in america. I have gone in fast, but did not have time to look at the speedo. . I will try to get a radar gun reading this summer. .

TJ, if you have 3. 55 6spd on 37's here's your chart... enjoy, you can owe me later ;)

Why is my truck limited to 115 and your guys' trucks aren't? Is this something specific to '02 model years? Can it be changed with DRB?

Are you stock or moded?? Need a signature on your truck so we know what mods you have??

I'm talking about what the speedometer is reading, not actual speed. My top speed is governed through the PCM to the Cummins' ECM. None of my mods have affected the PCM.

There was a thread 3 or 4 years ago that addressed the speed limiter function. I seem to remember that the author (Don't Remember Who or what the Title was) had disabled the speed limiter by opening up a speed signal wire. I do not know if it was to the PCM or the ECM.

There should be someone on the forum that would know. I do know you can buy a box that is plug and play and will lit you just go. Oo.

When I installed my Banks box it triggered some sort of "speed limiter" at 90MPH. After searching up and down I found this fix. I put a switch on the white wire with a orange stripe. I've found that this wire also turns off the grid heaters. If the switch is off my grid heaters will continue to cycle even after going over the 20MPH speed cut-off. It sets a code too but it will go away. I've been running like this for over 2 years now with no known issues dou to the cut. I usually leave the switch on in the winter and off in the summer when the grid heaters don't run.

I hope this helps your problem. Mine has no limiter now, I saw 126MPH on one of my dyno runs!
