What keepsit from blowing sky hi?

The rail pressures are very hi, over 10000psig. If air enters the system and is coexistant with fuel, what prevents the high concentration of Oxygen from oxidizing the fuel and exploding?



Been wondering bout this for a spell.

a small air bubble in the system won't contain enough oxygen to combust with the fuel it is compressed in, too rich a mixture, and the fuel is not atomized. non atomized diesel fuel is very much harder to ignite than atomized fuel. .

Plus the temperature is pretty low. Much lower than at the top of a compression stroke.
