Mac users - having trouble?

I got home late last night, and got on my computer about Midnight to check the TDR. (I guess that makes me a TDR Dieselhead!:-laf) Anyway after a few minutes I see I have a PM. So I open it and it is from Steve St. L, telling me of a temporary fix (Mac Test Style) he has made to the new software for us Mac OSX/I. E. users, and asking me to try it. So I'm not sure how to implement what he has suggested and I fire a PM back to him telling him I'll try to figure out how to make his suggestion work, and I figure he'll get back to me in a few days. To my surprise I immediately get back another PM telling me where the "Mac test style" button is--(at the bottom of the page in the button with the monitor colors) and I click it and IT WORKS!! Oo. NO MORE ANNOYING PROBLEMS!!!

Now if it was Midnight here on the West Coast, it had to be 3:00 a. m. in Michigan! What kind of a guy would be working to fix our problems at 3:00 a. m? Some words come to mind: Dedicated. Hard Working. Remarkable. Responsible.

Thank you Steve, from all us Mac I/E users!!!

I got the same message when I got home last night too. I switched over and am not having the same problems either. Thanks a million Steve. I'm not using I/E though, I'm using Safari. It's not really my MAC but the schools and they don't want I/E on here for some reason.

I'm running Mozilla and I do not see a difference between the Mac and the default? At home I run the Mac desktop look on my Linux box, so I expected something dramatic.

PS: I. E. free zone. thhhbbbbpptt MS. :-laf

What exactly was the problem you were having. I too run Mac OSX and have had no problems except the site runs much slower now with the new software. FAQ says this will pass, so I am being patient.

The menus at the top are different. The mac test style uses the old style rows of buttons versus the pull down menus of the new design. The problem guys were having (on everything except Netscape V7 it seems) was the top of the page flashing as it loaded up and extremely slow performance. It looks like this is caused by the Javascript code in the pull down menus at the top. I used a program called Allwebmenus Pro to generate those menus. They are also causing a problem in Linux Konqueror I've found. I have an email into Allwebmenus tech support to see if they have a solution for the problem. If not, then I'll be looking for another way to generate those pull down menus.

Thanks Steve. Very quick response. I switched to the Mac test style and it did seam to pick up speed a bit. However I am not using IE, but use Safari. I still believe I see an improvement though. It was running very slow. Almost to the point I would not come on to the site. MK

The problems I had, (OSX 10. 3. 4 & I. E. ) were not good. Banner ad and TDR icon flashing 6-10 times while the pages s-l-o-w-l-y loaded, no "open link in new window". In order to get the new posts, or change forums or move about the site, it took about 1 minute of the spinning color wheel while the computer tried to think what to do. The fix Steve came up with fixed all those problems!! Thanks again Steve.

Menus seem to be working fine. Also have noticed that the site seems to be getting much quicker.

Thanks

George
