Hey guys

I’ve noticed my mileage has gotten slightly better over the last couple weeks. When I’m not towing I use to get 18 to 19 miles a gallon. I’m now seeing 22 ish and today 23 while driving with no load. I haven’t been towing at all lately so I don’t have those numbers.

The truck has been running perfectly with no codes…

it’s a 20 Laramie 4x4 with a 50 gallon tank. I’m running 275/70 R 18 at the moment with 74k on the truck.

curious to hear what some of you are getting??

Thanks!

It is rare for me to be empty, but when I am I have a dedicated 400 mile run I do twice a year. Mostly 65, about 40 miles of freeway, even some 50 mph.

On 10-23..."33k plus miles on the truck, 397 miles this trip, display 22.6, math 21.48. Drove a little faster and probably have added more junk in the bed."

Previous trip with 11k on the truck, I got this..."Display said 23.7, math was 22.8."

Loaded to about 26-27K on my dump and 15k with dump empty, round trip, I get about 11.5.

I certainly have not done the math like I know I should, this is all off the computer. Sounds like I’m not too far off what you are getting. Soon as summer ramps up I’ll be loaded most of the time, or I certainly hope so. That means I’m working!!

thank you

I got 28.6 mpg on my last tank on my EcoD.

Two weeks ago I averaged 19.8 mpg unloaded on the 2020 3500.

Diesel is amazing.

Its all about speed,... @ around 70~80.. I am getting around 18.... much higher (20+) if I stay below 65 but almost impossible here in NC on 40/85 anymore. Towing at 26k combined I am in the 10~11 range. (2020 HO Limited with 90g tank).

13.5 mpg hauling 3000 lbs camper 11 ft tall total 11,000 lbs all around Alaska and the Yukon. My neighbors big ford gasser gets 10-11 empty

I got to drive a rental F-350 dually stake rack truck last month. 9.5 mpg unloaded and 6-7 mpg loaded with 3,500 lbs of paletted ordered items and a half full Knaack box.

Watching the fuel needle swiftly move to E was shocking to say the least.

Surprised they'd even make a gas truck like that. I see no purpose to suck down fuel that quick. Not practical. But people buy'em I suppose.

I average 15 -16 unloaded and 11 - 13 depending on the load. The 4.10's really get the load moving and then that where it goes sideways from there! Get above 70mph and you can almost watch the needle move. Best I've gotten was going up and down 95 with about 1k in bed down, 21 - 22. Then on return with less than 250lbs, 22 - 23. This was all hand calculations, as the EVIC was about 1 mpg higher on average. I'm sure that if I had 3.73's, I would be a bit better overall. It what it is, we didn't buy these trucks for the fuel mileage. We got them to fit a need, and that they do!

Topzide you must have the "GOLDEN DUALLY" with 4.10's. Local driving with some freeway I am at 12mpg. If I were to take a road trip at 70 on flat ground I would get 15 and hauling doubles @ 35k combined I am 9-9.5 average. All hand calc. NO way in HE!! have I ever seen anything like your 21-22.

NOT calling you a liar but I sure would love to run side by side starting with both tanks filled to the top and fill the same at the end of each run.

I get +/- 22 mpg unloaded mostly heavy traffic highway miles.I run 63 to 68 most of the way about 140 miles a day. I have to do a lot of passing on 2 way roads so that hurts mpg every time I have to drop the pedal to the floor to get around someone on the phone half asleep.

Like most I'm in the low 20's on highway trips empty, 17 mpg with our pop up camper about 16 when pulling our enclosed trailer with the pop up camper. Pulling our toyhauler 28' and 8000 lbs I get 10-12 but a lot of that is mountain driving in the Cascades. Overall impressive mileage for such a big truck.

@Cummins12V98, I thought something was wrong also and had to double check numbers when that happened! I guess being able to have cruise on and the fairly level grades on 95 influenced the out come. Haven't made that run since to compare the numbers again. Only thing that might have played a role would've been that I had a trap covering the load in the bed. So was a bit more "aero" than just standard. That's the only thing that was different that would affect it.
I know that I messed with the FIL one time. Just had filled up and had a good down hill grade and the computer showed 68 and getting larger. Took pic and sent to him. He called and asked what I did to truck to get numbers like that!

Tailwind greatly improves milage, even if it is just a slight 10mph breeze.

65 is 55.

Ran from NM to OKC last fall with the strongest tailwind I’ve had while loaded this past decade. 14-MPG at 79,600 gross. 70-MPH with 25-35/tail. (35-45). Dropped back to single digits once below 2,000-ft. (Usually at 8.5-9.0 with a crosswind).

It was so quiet in the cab I started to get sleepy.

With a 10+ tail, the CTD jumps into the low 30’s at 60 with 1,100-lbs on board (flat Texas coast).

Imagine over 900-miles from the OEM tank.

Yesterday heading West on 10 out of Palm Springs, CA I saw 3-4 mpg bucking big headwinds on slight grade.
North of Bakersfield I normally get 10 but with slight head wind I was 8.8. At $5.50 it makes the 1,300 mile journey North pricy.

Yeah.... I had a bad headwind going to charlotte a few weeks ago for Autofair pulling my 5er... was getting 8 to 8.5... reset the evic and slowed from 75 to 60.. no real change in mpg or trans.. AISIN was @267deg.. so I new it was just that much head wind... so in my case was probably like going 90

EDIT [ my worst I've had was sub 8mpg going west across Wyoming and 26k gross... man that wind can be a bugger]

If someone wants to play around with this, get a 15$ Anemometer from Amazon and hold it out the window.
Corrected by the speedometer you know what Wind you have.
