What kind of mileage and highway (70-75 mph) rpms can I expect with my soon to be delivered 2003 3500 QC, Short bed HO/48RE, 4x4? Will the rpms lower significantly if I install 35" tires?

Thanks

Ryan

I've been averaging a pretty consistent 15-15. 5 mpg (hand calculated). I went with the 4. 10s with 315/70R17s in mind. I hope to see an increase in mpg with them installed.

Thanks Bomb Squad for the reply. What are the RPMs on the highway? Post some pics when you get the 315s installed.

47RE and 48RE have the same ratios. 70 mph is about 2250rpm with stock 265-70R17s. Here's the formula to play with.

MPH X axle ratio X O/D X 336 / tire diameter= rpm

In my case,

70 X 4. 10 X . 69 X 336 / 30" = 2217rpm

Remember that advertised tire diameter isn't always accurate. Loaded tire diameter will be less.
