Off Roading Hollister Hills video

Hey guys,

I live out in the country and am interested in new shocks, springs and some sort of grill gard. There is a lot of deer where I live and a lot of the roads are pretty sad. I live on a farm and frequently take my truck off road. Nothing to serious but my truck does take a thrashing from time to time. I am looking for your advice on products that have worked well for you.

I spend plenty of time in the fields with mine as well. I work on a farm, and we have plenty of deer as well. I have Bilsteins on my truck as well. Very happy with them.

With deer, I wouldn't waste your money on a grille guard. Better spent on a full bumper replacement. I hit a deer last fall away from home, and a grille guard wouldn't have done anything with the way I hit this one. She stuck her head down right before I hit, and she tagged the lower bumper and put a twist in it, which broke out the passenger side light assembly and grille. A grille guard wouldn't protect you from that.

I did get lucky though. No sheetmeatal damage. Raditor was damaged from it, but I think it was a coincidence. Nothing hit the radiator. Started leaking and had my boss haul me back on the trailer.

I just talked to Kevin Kelly, who is the eastern distributer of kore produts. If you ever have any questions he is a good guy to talk to(TDR member). I am pretty sold on the Kore system. One of their packages utilizes Bilstien shocks. The rest I think have fox shocks. His web site is www.klmperformance.com. It is very informative. If Anybody out there has a kore system I would love to how you like it.

I've been running a Kore Race system for several years on my 2002. I was an early adopter and bought back when they were still T-Rex. I love it and have nothing but good things to say about it. The service and support from Kore has been awesome and the ride quality of the truck, on road or off road is far superior to what Dodge gives us from the factory.

I can honestly tell you that I have hammered this truck off road and it just soaks up everything. You will not regret your purchase.

Check out Buckstop Bumpers http://www.buckstop.biz/ ... I think for the pricing, it'll be tough to get a better bumper. Lots of options to choose from and they build to suit. Bilsteins are great replacement shocks. If you are looking for springs and shocks there are several good suspension manufacturers out there that'll be happy to give you some advice and info. Kore http://www.koreperformance.com/ and Lorenz http://lorenzindustries.com/ and Carli http://www.thecarlisuspension.com/ all make quality suspension systems if you want to check them out. Hope this info proves to help (but if you're like a lot of us other Dodge Cummins crazies... it might make it harder :-laf ).

I've got a Ranchhand mounted on my '05 I really like it, looks like it offers quite a bit of protection. My main concern though is protecting the Radiator & Intercololer from deer damage. My front bumper has rock chips & crap from the freeway, so if a dear hit that it would be ok as I then would step up to a full bumper replacement.

JBlubaugh,

I just recently purchased the KORE chase series suspension specifically for uor dodge trucks which was a straight forward do-it-yourself install with hand toold, torque wrench, jack stands and a jack. It is like a 1ton porsche; the faster you go over rough terrain the smoother it is. On road performance is improved also.

I also just ordered a Reunel front and rear bumper system and you might want to check out their website www.reunel.com. Good luck with your decisions.
