getting ready to order, what makes the ho an ho. could I just ad an EZ and get same result?

want to get ho but want auto. don't feel like waiting anymore.

one more ? do you think it is eaiser to sell our trucks with or without the mods on them.

There's no solid consensus on that. . Some have been told that there are no physical differences and it's just programming, some have been told there are physical differences (extra oiling in particular). I am betting on the former - I am trading from a 2nd gen HO 6 speed to a standard output auto.

Go ahead get the auto. Then add a fueling box--or whatever will be the equivilent to an EZ on an ETC.

In the old days (pre common rail) ETH- (HO) ran smaller injectors at higher pressures with different programming and some changes in the VP44. That's why BOMBERs got more enhanced performance out of ETC set-ups. The ETH trucks really needed injector upgrades to move up the performance ladder.

3G? Dunno, but DD will be able to help you out real soon!Oo.

I have the best all around deal. 6-speed with ETC and fueling box being delivered today---and one Gorgeous 2nd gen truck.

I saw a presentation at Cummins Alberta last Thursday night on the new engine. The following is from memory and the room was loud so forgive me if I am wrong.

From recollection, the HO version has different pistons. These pistons have a circumferential, internal oil gallery located above (or adjacent to) the top ring land. This is to facilitate addition piston cooling for the higher output engines.

Regards, Marc

Here is a rendered drawing of the HO piston x-section. This gallery cooled piston is only on the HO engines.

I don't think that link addresses the physical difference in the two versions of the 2003 engine. Or am I missing something?
