Im shopping for a new truck and i was curious what Dodge did to get that extra set of ponies? Is it just a ECM flash or what?

Higher compression, different pump and injectors, probably different ecm flash. The power hungry have found the ETC pump has more potential. The injectors are small, and the gain from aftermarket or 275 hp RV injectors is good. However, you get to the point where the pump won't do any more.

Do a search on this, there was a thread about 1-2 months ago that was pretty good about this. Title was close to this thread title.

P. S. JOE, get back to the 12v fourm!:p ;)

It may be a weaker clutch to start with, but it sure holds a lot stronger once a South Bend Clutch is in there. No need to upgrade to a 13" flywheel either(it comes with 13"), like us clowns with 5 speeds have to, if we want the full benefit of the extra surface area.

BTW, the HO engines have plasma-coated pistons, in addition to the other upgrades mentioned.....

The HO engines have replaceable valve seats in the head and the early HO's had stronger connecting rods, though I think the ETC now has the same rods.
