My local DC has my order papers ready and will be sent off tomorrow. THE NEW '600', BABY!!!Oo. It's a 3500 SRW 4X4 QC w/3. 73 and 6 spd,Off-Road pkg, tow mirrors, Lite Almond Pearl and Silver lower paint, steering wheel audio controls and rear fold out floor. Is there anything else that I should get and what is everybody's "professional" opion for the "best bang for the buck"? I've still got till wednesday (12/10/03) to make changes.

I agree...

Leather is just soooo much easier to keep clean. You've spent this much on the truck..... may as well go all the way and get the Laramie package.

Congrats on your upcoming vehicle.

Get the Laramie package, well worth it. So far, zero issues with the dial-a-4WD, my only possible issue with the Laraime. If you live in a cold climate area, get the bun toaster (heated seats) option too, makes the Mrs. much happier. Oo.

Just get them all. You must feel pretty lucky, you waited just long enough to get the latest and newest engine!!!!! Don't want to sound cold harted, but everyone else that bought a new Cummins in the last 6 months got screewed! And big time, I mean they broke it off in them baby... . Can you say depreciation?? and loss of value. If I was you I could care less what came on the truck, I just be happy it came with the 600. Good luck with the new truck, lucky.

Thanks....

I own a decorative concrete business and have my seats covered 99% of the time, so leather would pro be too unnoticed for the price...

I just found this site a few months ago and had just sold 2 2nd gen Goats and wish to God that I had know about ya'll before then!! You guys are GREAT and I have learned a ton of things just reading about your experiences and opinions.

I'll keep you posted and add pics in 45 days when I get my new toy!!!

p. s. DC just informed me that the wait went from 90 days to 45. I wonder why?? - John

Laramie has some stuff you may or may not want--electric shift transfer case, Sentry security system, chrome body side mouldings, leather power seats.

Last time I looked, the off road package included 4. 10. Since 3. 73 is standard and not a buyer-specified thing, this means you would get 4. 10.

I didn't see trailer towing package or protection package (skid plate and tow hooks) in your list. If you don't get the off road pkg you may want the protection package that is part of it.

I got the SLT with trailer tow pkg and fog lamps the only added things. I made my own skid plate and a front receiver hitch. That way if I ever have to pull the Ram out, I am pulling on the center, not a corner of the frame.

I have seen almond single color and with silver at the bottom. IMHO, the single looked better as the silver does not set off the almond very well.

You are gonna love the new Ram :D

You can't go wrong, but for what its worth,

I also didn't want the Laramie package, didn't want leather or the elec. transfer case. The main things I wanted option wise were;

- limited slip

- trailer package

- premium cloth seats

- load flat floor

- tow mirrors

- keyless entry

I ended up getting those plus,

- infinity sound

- pwr adj. pedals

- auto dim rear view mirror

- rear window defrost

I find I don't use the adj. pedals (but would be a good idea if you have other drivers). I don't listen to the stereo much, but it sounds nice. The auto dim mirror has really grown on me. I think it was cheap too.

Cheers

Dave

OFF ROAD....

I need to check into that Off-road package and make sure that I do what I need to, to get the 3. 73 like I wanted. I had forgot to note that I did get the fog lights and and trailer tow package and tow mirrors. Thanks for the info. It probably saved me a lot of tears and grief... .

Thanks to your helpful advice, I have renewed my list and confirmed it today. First, I decided to go with solid bright silver instead of the Almond(my fiance wanted Almond) and the other changes are as follows:

1 Premium Cloth seats

2 Trailer tow Group

3 Hood Protection

4 Light Group (to ease the cancellation of the Almond:rolleyes: )

5 Protection package (tow hooks and skid plates)

6 Block Heater

7 Leather wrapped steering wheel

8 Canceled Off-Road package to keep my 3. 73

9 Billet Grill

10 Chrome body moldings(I have to add those after the truck arrives)

11 AM/FM 6 Disc Infinity

I have to disagree with you for the following reasons!

One thing that everyone is forgetting, this new 50 State EPA engine will probably have Federal Regulations that the consumer will have to adhear to. In others words, your exhaust system and fueling probably can not be legally modified, and may be subject to Federal fines if they are modified.

I know the last time I went to a muffler shop to have a new exhaust put on a van, I wanted to put duals on it. Nobody would do it claiming that Federal Regulations required them to only build it to stock specifications.

For the above reasons, I wanted, ordered and will receive (hopefully next week) a pre-04. 5 without the EPA approval! :D

I think that anyone that took delivery before the "New 600" engine should be happy! For a difference of 20 HP and 45 ft/lbs of torque, I'll buy a box or injectors and not have to worry about the Feds! :D

And just think, If you have to go though a EPA emission check, you will have a different set of standards to meet! Fortunately, there are no emission check where I live! Can you say BOMBS away with not worry of the Feds! :D

And on top of that, who knows, the pre 04. 5's might be able to be reflashed to the 04. 5 standards. ;) No one knows yet.
