I have made my decision and I am going with a Suncoast transmission. I have already decided to for sure go with their converter, billet input shaft, and double deep pan. I am planning on staying around the 550HP range and it is a daily driver. I dont tow with it but if I ever do then it wont be over 5000lbs. The truck wont ever see the dragstrip or 30psi boosted launches just want to be able to play on the hwy. Gotta have plenty of power for the street!:-laf Just wondering, what else should I go with. I only want to do this once and be done with it cause I really dont have the time or money to waste. I am trying to stay as cheap as I can but I dont want to regret it. The guy at Suncoast told me the the billet input would be needed but also a laminate flexplate. Do you think that the flexplate is necessary? Someone told me that I would need to go with the billet direct drum but said that I wouldnt need the flexplate. What do you guys think. I am ordering this week so any feedback is needed as soon as possible please. Also What about the Lockup controller? Should I go ahead and do that also. I dont want to have to go through this crap again. The output can wait cause if it breaks then I can do it without pulling out the transmission again. LOL

Do I need::confused:

Laminate Flexplate

Billet Intermediate Shaft

Billet Direct Drum

just do your-self a favor..... build it for 800+hp... . that way it will hold anything you put to it

the bug bites hard and never stops for HP

like Scott said, overbuild it. I know a guys that have broke input shafts, flexplates, output shafts and intermediates. so it is cheap(expensive) insurance.

I didn't have the extra dough for the flexplate or the TC controller when i did my transmission, I was at about $5,000 when i got done with the converter, VB, rebuild kit, input shaft, dubble deep pan, fluids and rebuild.

If you have to stay cheap, there a pretty good chance that if the flexplate breaks its not going to destroy the transmission... you'll just have to pull the transmission again and spend another $500-$650.

I'm now thinking about saving up for the converter controller. I've been beating on my truck pretty good... . so far so good.

Like the others have said, do it once for 800 HP and never look back. I wish now I would have done all the billet stuff when I did my transmission last time. Now I need to do it again and add the billet. . spend $5000 once or $3500 several times... . your choice.

Dont know that I can afford to go full billet right now. I would if I could but my truck is down and I dont have anything else to drive.

I am ordering tomorrow and so far have decided to go with the flexplate and input shaft. Do you guys think that I really need the intermediate shaft also? I would like to save the money if at all possible but dont want to regret it. How common are those to break?
