I have a 97 3/4 ton auto with a 5 inch exhaust and would like to know what # plate i should buy and what kind of inprovements i should see. i would also not like to see a big drog in mph either. Where is the best place online to buy from without big$.

I have TST #10. I think it is the same plates as sold at PDR. It is a great towing plate. Kind of a half moon profile, and has a ramp on top and bottom, which will cut the fuel back some up top, to keep the EGTs down. Never saw over 900* preturbo with it.



The ratings on the plate chart are more of a guideline. Every truck is different, and most likely assuming the plate will be in the same stock position as the stock plate. Mine is full forward. The farther the plate is slid forward, the more power you'll get.



My stock transmission wasn't in very good shape (even at 139k miles), and didn't like the plate, even in stock position. It could barely handle the stock power, let alone the plate. It REALLY hated me when I had added the 370 injectors on top of that. :-laf

I have a #10 but on a 5sp truck ie big pump and injectors. But from what I know and have read a #10 seems to be the best plate just slide it ahead for more power and back for less. It doesn't take much movement to change power output. Also on the auto trucks the 3kgsk is recomended more so than on 96 and up 5sp trucks. Depending on milage on your injectors you might need new ones. I changed mine out with 155,000 miles and now have easier starting and lower egts. Yours being an auto would see improvement in power from larger injectors and/or plate. My advice would with whatever you do keep boost under 32lbs and pyro under 1200. I've had trouble after I exceeded this.

Get a #10 for all around use. It can get fairly radical in that pump so don't get too crazy. A #5 or 6 is a better topend plate but those will toast that stock transmission, a 10 is smoother and doesn't come on big till the motor has some RPM, more importantly the transmission's pump has some RPM for flow.

Another vote for #10 and 3k GSK. The GSK is the absolute first thing I do to any 12v truck--all pumps.



If you can't do it with a #10, get bigger injectors. :p (and all the stuff that leads to)

If you're going to run stock injectors--well I dunno, I never run stock injectors.



I think if you're running bigger injectors, that the plates below 10 tend to load up the bottom end. More smoke than power. I'm sure bigger charger(s) and a light foot at the bottom would help the spool get going.



Unless you're going for real big power, I find a 10 and 370's (or equiv), 3K, 16 degrees, and a four-inch turbo is a pretty sweet set-up for mid 400's and nearly 1000ftlbs(with a 215 pump). Haven't dynoed our red one yet--the green one pulled 444/990 with hiccup at around 2800. But then it pulled to 3400. We'll find out how it does in the spring with a clean fuel filter and slightly bigger charger.

I was able to use the #6 towing 9K TT with my 95 without a problem. The 98 was a different story. It would slip the transmission at 22-24# boost towing the 13. 5K fiver. The 98 was stronger stock than the 95 modified with plate in stock position though. I wish I had done the 3K long ago too.

I've got one here in town like this! PDR cam(small) 370's and a cut plate like a #10, and a stock turbo. It made 446 on #2 and 496 with a 50/50 water mix. It now has one of my old PDR 40's on it and will be going to a SPS 62 soon.
