Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) What pump???

I just bought a 1998 12valve motor compleate. It was behind a auto trans. I am wanting to know what pump is on it is it a p7100???.

If it is an early 98 12 valve, it is a P-pump. If it is a 98 and a half, 24 valve, it is a junk pump.

just joking. of course it is a 12 v. what makes the difference in the hp in the auto motors vs the manual trans motors. I have a 1996 with a manual. I am going to put the 1998 motor in the truck. Is the long block the same as my 96??? sorry so many questions. justin

The manual pumps have 215hp injectors if you remove the injectors from the manual motor and put them on the new motor you should be good to go. Also, the harmonic balancer is larger on the 215hp motor so you may want to switch that as well.

After about 1996 all the harmonic balancers were the larger ones. The 1998 balancer will be fine as is.

My 97(California truck) 5 speed has the small balancer, it hasn't seemed to bother it at 4500 rpm, though.
