Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) What seals the Camshaft Position Sensor?

Hey gang,



My truck has an oil leak that appears to be coming from the camshaft position sensor. This mounts to the rear of the timing cover almost directly above the vacuum pump/power steering pump.



I want to pull it out and see if there's just an o-ring in there, but I'm worried about making a minor oil leak into a major one if the (assumed) o-ring self-destructs and I can't find another one.



Has anyone had this sensor out and can verify that it actually is an o-ring and not some kind of oddball seal?



The service manual calls it an o-ring, but I called dodge and they said the o-ring was ~$18. 00 and the whole sensor is ~$54. 00, so I'm now worried that it might not be just an o-ring.

Its an O/R.

Its an O ring as mentioned above, and the position sensor is retained by a small screw (I cant remember if its an 8mm head or a hex head).



Your Cummins Engine is still under warranty have the dealer fix the problem.
