P-0148 engine code, FASS?

My 06 3500 6 spd has 9800 miles on it now and I was wondering what might need attention at this point. I drive it monthly and change the oil and filter yearly using Rotella T6. Changed the antifreeze last spring and siphoned the brake fluid out of the reservoir and replaced it with new this year. Should I be looking at new hoses, new gear grease in the trans and rearend, anything on the diesel system need changed out???
Thanks for your help on this. I want the truck to last and last and be ready to go when I finally get the chance.

Nope, that's it! Drove it quite a bit more in S TX but only around 20 miles a month now. I'll run it over to a small town to wash it and drive it back to dry it off. I need to put some new tires on it as the originals have 11 years on them now.

Wow, I bought my 06 about 5 years ago with only 21k on it and I thought I scored. You win.

I wouldn't worry about the hoses. You could change the fluids in the trans and rear end just out of precaution but I doubt it "needs" it.

Some things I would do...add some additional fuel filtration if you haven't already. Second, with that fuel sitting in the tank so long you might want to consider using an algaecide additive. At the very least replace your existing fuel filter with the Baldwin PF7977 if you haven't serviced it already. My .02.

Thanks for the input. I have changed the trans and diff to the premium Amsoil gear lube several years ago so I would think they'd be OK. And I will look into the fuel additive with algaecide. I have a Fleetguard fuel filter I was going to install when I do the oil filter but will check into the Baldwin filter. Are they a better filter?
And I may just change the oil filter and keep the existing engine oil since it is the synthetic Rotella oil. It appears clear on the dipstick.

I also have a 1997 2500 reg. cab diesel with 96000 miles. I'm almost tempted to sell both and buy one new 3500 crew cab with the Aisin transmission and diesel.

I almost mentioned that in my previous post. Both of your trucks have extremely low mileage for their age and will bring good money. A 97 12V and a 06 5.9, both sought after. Your choice but both of your trucks have a lot of life left in them.

DBoyd, I've seen some low mileage vehicles that, when finally were put in service, did not do well. I think you might be doing your truck a favor by hooking 10k to it and taking a 200 mile trip. Make sure that there are no electric problems with whatever you hook to BEFORE you hook to it, so you don't damage your TIPM. Maybe hook your old truck to it first? And maybe change your trailer light fuses to 10 amp. Then drive it like you stole it! (Well, almost!) How many hours on your Mammoth Deere? 600? LOL!!

i think, as in i might be wrong, but you should change the antifreeze. i think it goes bad on time alone, and you might be at that point. and i'd look at the belt, hoses should be ok. make usre you drain the fuel filter before starting to help get the condensation out of the system.
and you should PM me how much you want for the 97.
