I thought these were not offered with 5 or 6.

It won't let me edit the poll - if the moderator wants to add 0,5 and 6, go ahead.

You guys are saying that the EZ has more than four levels?? How do you get to level 5 & 6, I just thought there where the four offered with the jumper switches... That is all the manual says, is there some kind of a secret code??? Mine has been on (factory set) level 3 but I think I will bump it up to see what it is like.

Thanks

Dave

I still run mine on 6 daily.

Kieth has suggested I turn it down due to it being hard on the return spring ... ... ... ... ..... hopefully he'll get me a 500hp package together so I won't need it, right Kieth ;)

What is a return spring? Will the new boxes with more hp be hard on the return spring?

The new edge boxes only have one hidden level. . ::: X:: and thats 80 hp. Put the other jumper on the left set of prongs which are inactive.

Level 6 here for the last 8k miles, might kick it back down to 4 and see what its like,6 feels kind of "jumpy" when cold out. Will pull 40 # of boost though pulling trailer up moderate grade at 75 MPH and only 1100 on pyro!! :D

Mine's been on Level 6 for the last 12,000 miles, & for 9,500 of the 30,000 before that (14,500 of Level 4, & 6,000 of nothing in the first month I owned the truck before I got the EZ).

And I'm the one who had to have the common rail pressure relief valve replaced (4,000 miles after getting the EZ, but I don't know if it can be attributed to the EZ).

Don't run on 5 or 6. Occasional pressure excursions cause the relief valve to open momentarily, and the high pressure fuel etches the check ball. After a few cycles, it is roached and idle, run quality suffer considerably. Level 4 is safe.

Performance Upgrades

Its kind of funny how you install an upgrade and get that kick in the pants feel and then it becomes normal feeling, so you find yourself wanting more and more and... :D

Every now and then I drop the EZ to 1, get use to it and bump it back up to 4 for that nice pull it has.

And it's not exactly cheap to replace that relief either. :) Level 4 is the safe limit guys.

I guess I've got one foot planted firmly on each side of the fence here ;) having had it replaced (under warranty), and still running on level 6 (if the failure mechanism is as Joe says, would there be any point to switching back, now?).

After it was replaced, I looked into buying one to carry as a spare, and I was :--) when told the price. The worst part of a failure, though, isn't the price, but the failure mode--there's no graceful degradation, it just goes from a perfectly happy truck to one that won't start, period, with no warning.

Here in the last few weeks is the first time I've seen anybody post on this scenario as the reason to avoid level 5 & 6, though, so now I'm starting to worry a little...

LEVEL

I have order Banks new Six-Gun , It tunes timing and fuel pressure 105 HP / 258 LP-FT with out loader. It will be a few weeks before it will arrive.

Left mine on #4 due to the fact I've read a few posts about it setting the MIL on #5 or #6 if romped on alot... ... . I think mine is an earlier model EDGE (was purchased around October 1st of 2003) and may have the extra settings. May try #5 or #6 and see what happens in the spring when winter is over.
