wheel well liners

The $50,000 question!

On my Christmas list, I had put an AFE PG-7 w/ the torque tube as well as 4 gauges and all the nessasary things that go along with them. When I was finished looking everthing up for the best prices, I added it all up and was just under $1,000 not to include shipping/handling.

So, in an attempt to make things a little more affordable I need to narrow it down. What would you guys recommend getting first, the air intake or the 4 gauges?

I want the overhead mount with the EGT, transmission temp. , boost, and fuel pressure gauges.

So far my truck is stock but I do tow a 13,000# trailer every once in awhile.

Thanks

The most important gauge is the EGT. It's my opinion that every truck should have one from the factory, but that will never happen. If it were me and I didn't want to spend that much money, I would buy an Edge EZ and get an EGT gauge. The boost and fuel pressure shouldn't be an issue if you keep it on level 4 or less. Towing, the EGT's and possibly the transmission could get a little warm. Seems like you can get the EZ for just over $400 if you hunt around.

Just my $0. 02.

I meant to mention -- It seems to be the general consensus that if you're not pushing any more power than just the EZ, the intake and exhaust should flow sufficient air.

Seems like most get bigger tires and or wheels first. I ended up getting a Mag Hi-tec rear end cover for my first BOMB it's just the way things worked out.

If you are real strict then I BOMBED my truck at the dealer by adding a jug of Diesel Fuel Conditioner right there in the parking lot.

My stock EGT's are fine with Edge on level 3 and only a drilled out airbox even towing at 7K.

IMO get the gauges installed and put some miloes on the truck before adding power you want to find any bugs before you are playing the chip removal game with the dealer.

BTW still have stock wheels and tires guys.

My advice would be a little more broad. Any mod that doesn't add fuel (i. e. increases EGT temps) will be fine. My first mod was PIAA headlight bulbs and windshield wipers. I know that didn't increase EGT's. :)

I know its been discussed (or beat to death) but I have a stock 04 Dodge 3500 dulley w/automatic and the 305/555 Cummins. I pull a 13500# 5th wheel in the Sierra Nevada and Cascades. Is there any danger of my EGT rising to the melting point? or should I install a EGT gauge and back out when it gets to the melting point if (not knowing without a gauge) or does anyone have a rig like mine with a similar situation with a ETG gauge and if so does it go to the breaking point? Seems like you would never know without the gauge. .

I've spent a little money and time customizing/tweeking my rig and to this day the best and most usefull mod I've made was the Mopar wheel well liners. It was also my first mod. The factory is just stupid for not putting these things in.

BHanks, No EGT worries on a stock truck, they're designed for the fuel they've got.

Actually, according to the wife, a new sofa must precede the Road Armor. I also had to get new carpet in three rooms to be able to justify my dual disc SBC clutch to her as well. :(

Gauges are number one then do intake and replace muffler with high flow muffler most run Donaldson on third gen since you already have 4 inch exhaust then think about fueling box.

I have a buddy who can set you up with that!! He has a class III license and has all kind of belt fed and or water cooled weapons. His '79 Bronco has the top removed and a 50 cal mounted on a tri-pod back there :-laf

He also has a couple of military vehicles like a real HMMWV (not the Blazer with an H2 body) and a duce & 1/2. He likes to go to those big machine gun shoots and bring back 55 gal drums of spent shell casings :-laf
