What size down pipedoes the new 05 w/ 6spd have? I have a friend, and we are trying to put together a new exhaust sytem for it. Before you ask we are both out of the country and cannot physically look or else their would be no question about it. Its just that all of the sites do not mention a new down pipe and I was wandering if the 05's came with a 4" down pipe straight from the factory? I appreciate the help guys,

Thanks for the info DPKetchum. That is probably why there is no replacement downpipe it is already 4inch. Thanks again,

You can get a 4" down pipe from Banks for use with or without a CAT.

I think the one without is longer. Both of them eliminate the cast elbow off the turbo if you don't want that.

Thanks for the info on the down pipe, I will look into that. DPKetchum was the exhaust worth it, any noticable difference in power? what about sound? Louder, same? Did you use the muffler?

I used their complete system. Love the sound etc. Some have complained of droan. Mine does in the right rpm range towing 10k but oh well. Dosen't bother me or wife. You already have a full 4 inch system Change the muffler if you want sound etc. Many to chose from. The 05 is a full 4 inch system. My 03 was not. I picked up . 5 to 1. 0 mpg as soon as I drove it. Chucked old system in a dumpster.

Mine was not produced with a cat. BUT if it hasd been it would still be there. Lots of issues with cat removal. One it is illegal to sell the vehicle if removed and the BETTER dealers LOOK at trade in time and the CAT has to be in place to trade in. Lots of other reasons. I've got headers, modified throttle body and 1. 7 roller rockers on my 1998 1500 with dual exhaust and YES it has a cat and is legal.

Does replacing the down pipe and removing the CAT have any impact on the warranty?

It would be against California law and Fed law. I would keep the CAT on, it keeps the diesel exhaust smell to a minimum.
