I need to pull my axles and hubs to install new backing plates on my 03 Ram 2500 4x4. I see mentioned elsewhere a socket #8954. What are you folks using? Is this an off-the-sheft socket available somewhere? Used to do these with a punch and hammer, but I know a socket is better. Thanks.

I have the socket and it does make it faster/easier but is not needed to do the job.You can come up with something to use much better than a punch and hammer,Once you have it apart you will understand

Thanks Bob. I bought one today at Autozone for $20. Part #27046 OEM 6-lug spindle socket. It's one of those deals where you can use it and take it back. I'll probably hold onto it for another time.
