I thought this would be as good of any place to put this. What aftermarket stereo upgrades have you done to your truck?

Here is mine:

Head unit: Alpine 7893 about 10 yrs old

Fronts: Soundstream SPL 2 ohm 6. 5 seperates with tweeter in upper door panel

Rear: Soundstream SPL 2 ohm 6. 5 coaxials in rear doors

Sub: Fosgate RFZ 10" 400/800 watt sub - 4ohm DVC

Power: For Highs I run an old Soundstream Rubicon 404 ( 100 x 4 @ 2ohms )

Sub: I run a Fosgate 351M mono sub amp (350 watts X 1 @ 2ohms ) also added a bass knob recently

I built a custom enclosure for the sub under the front Pass seat that is right at . 71 ft and sealed firing down. It will just about lift you out of the seat when you want it to.

As you can see I am kind of old school on the Hi/fi and I listen to a lot of 80's mid type music. The Soundstream stuff is from 1996 or so and the Fosgate amp is 2001 and the sub is early 90's also. I found it all new old stock on Ebay over the years. I installed at a audio shop before I enlisted in the Army over 25 yrs ago so I kinda like the Fosgate/SStream/ADS stuff.

Steve Winwood sounds really good in it due to the mid/bass that I set it up for. Also try the Stevie Wonder "Skeletons" with a tight bass system.

What's everyone else got?

ahhhhh a guy with class, old school... . as my buddy calls us audio piles... lol.

my old truck ran a Alpine deck cant recall the model, upper end ran pretty clean.

-ADS powerplate 100,

-MBQ separates up front,

-MBQ full ranges in the back doors

-6" powered hot dog sub on the floor right behind the console.

-good interconncets, Kimber cable speaker wire. felted doors.

worked pretty good for a driver, building a similair system in the current truck.

peace, B.

Hearing loss!! HA!! I like to hear my highs and FEEL my lows!! Back in the day, I had a girlfriend that liked my shadow box in my '96. And I liked it when she liked it... . :D

My first '96 had a Rockford Fosgate 1K amp under the center console, bridged that ran 2 10's behind the back seat. The amp fit perfect upside down between the seat brackets, and when you bolted down the center console, it clamped it down between the seat brackets and the console. Add a little heat fan, and you had a small broiler oven!! The four corners I ran off a 500w pawn shop special, Pioneer, I think it was, with Rockford 6x9s in the doors and 6" in the rear corners, with the moulding and sheet metal modified for them to fit... ... That's been a long time ago!!! I had several heads in 4 years, Alpine, Pioneers, Sony... . Strangely, I liked the features on the Pioneer best! Funny how that works. It wouldn't reach the highs I liked for Metallica, but the lows for the local dance music DJ mix were pretty..... ah... . moving, I guess you'd say. I know a fresh opened beer would foam over pretty bad at times. I also Dynomatted the whole rear of the cab while I had the seat and rear molding out. I did have one loose panel somewhere. I never could figure out where the hell it was, and I was gonna spray foam that sucker if I could ever figure out where it was!!

My second '96 had all Kicker speakers, stock size replacements in the four corners, standard highs in the doors by the mirrors(which helped a lot with the highs!), and a 12" shadow box for the front lower console. The two amps were behind the back seat, riveted to the back of the cab, and I had problems with my low driver overheating fairly regularly. I put two fans back there, but there just wasn't enough airflow during the summer days. I always thought some duct work would help it breathe better, but it melted down, finally, somewhere around Lake Tahoe in July '00..... I think my Sweet 16 linear CB amp may have had some affects on it. It would trip the breakers every time I fired it up on high. Made the lights dim pretty good at night, too. I never fixed it back like it was, and sold my shadow box. I had just acquired a '98 Crew cab conversion 12 Valve, and pooled my money to pay for it. I've never really spent that much effort on anything else I've had recently. I've got a 1K China brand on a shelf right now, with some 10" kickers I'd like to put in the '98, but it's another thing I haven't gotten done.

I have also had good results with some JL Audio speakers in my Versatile's  (I spend a lot of time in there!!):p
