Just curious as to what wheels you ordered with your new 3G truck.

Bright chrome steel wheel, forged aluminum, or the polished aluminum? And how in the world do you specify "polished aluminum" if that is what you want? My dealer seemed to think it was luck of the draw between forged aluminum or polished aluminum??

I have noticed that some of the '04. 5's have the forged polished aluminum wheels. If I could specify those, I would order it that way, but I don't want to take any chances and get the regular forged aluminum (No offense to those that have them). I just like a brighter (chrome or or polished aluminum) with a white truck.

Maybe DC is just replacing the forged aluminum with the polished aluminum which would explain why we are seeing both types on dealers lots on the '04. 5's. Does anyone know for sure?

Bingo! Look at the build dates... anything after sometime in May, not sure of the exact date, should be POLISHED FORGED ALUMINUM, as opposed to painted aluminum. Has anyone seen a late May or later truck with painted wheels? So far I haven't... and I'm really hoping my '05 comes with the polished ones, since that's what I'm counting on.

Not trying to flame ya but...

I think you should have a slot to vote for "none of the wheels" that way it can be more bias.

Whoa Terry's sold the '98 and gettin' a 3rd Gen

Think you'll get it in time for Piers Dyno Day? Going to try and make that again? I think that's the last time I saw ya.

If you would've rather had a 6-speed Pat. Blue truck you could've had my 2wd shortbed for a steal :)

That'd be kind of stupid since "no wheels" isn't a STOCK wheel option on a new truck, which was the whole point of the poll...

Chrome steel wheels. I have always had problems with aluminum wheels. You have to use special weights, you always have to re tighten the wheels, there will aloways be some BOZO at a tire shop that will scratch the heck out of your rim and just say "sorry dude". The steel wheel is basic, looks good and are much more reasonable to replace if you FUBAR one.

Hey Vaughn,

3G on order (see signature above at begining of thread), don't know if it will get here before DD, as I would like to drive it up there, but not to Dyno it. This one is going to remain all stock..... "factory knows best?"

It had to be white and an auto (too much shifting in our stop-n-go seattle/tacoma traffic). If I towed a majority of the time and lived in a more rural area, the 6spd would have been a no brainer.
