Back home in Seeley Lake MT they are having a tropical heat wave 55* and 28* time to get the surfboards out and hit the stock tank. Just waiting for some people that we know to get a little time off and a visit and we are OUT OF HERE!!! :D Wife said we need some sun we are as WHITE AS THE SNOW!!!!

OK Big now I have to ask what ever happened on that Honda Pete venture as the article was written in 2009. I am guessing must of been a flop.

Dont know for sure Mr CBari good question, I didnt think that the CNG trucks would catch on but they have some of the gas haul companies that I have went to see here in So Ca have gone to them the only problem with them is Mileage range and you have a heck of a time finding a place to fuel it up. Kind of like to see new technologies going even thou I dont understand most of them its got to change cause we cant stay on the same path that we have, much longer.

Went over to see the Kinder Morgan people where I use to load, They have got a few tanks of Bio that they add to the Diesel here they have the storage tanks, transfer pumps, pipes in and out all thermal wrapped. ITS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!!!!! and they have to worry about it getting cold???

Speaking of hanging iron, now HERE'S a set of chains!

That Le Tourneau reminds me, don't they use electric drive motors?

Nick

Scott Paper had several Le Tourneau "Letro Stackers" back when I hauled wood. Those were electric drive, the Screamin' Detroit just hammered against the governor all day and night generating electric power for all the functions.

They worked very well with tree length wood as they unloaded the trailer straight up rather than lifting in a slight arc as the Raygo Wagoners did. Less chance of a stake getting pulled up while unloading.

Second one down in the attachment is roughly what Scott Paper had.

Mike.

Yup, same thing the mill had where I worked last. Cable lift, gear drive clamp and tilt. Detroit 12V71's, they had two.

The link with the Wagner looks like he is unloading my old '63 DF400 IHC with a 280 Cummins and the same rusty 4" single stack:-laf We called it the Donald Duck Truck.

I remember reading Le Tourneau autobiography "Mover of Men and Mountains" I think and it was interesting how early on he was using the electric motors. That is part of what made me wonder about trucks powered that way.
