I have an 03 3500 DRW and I'm looking for a taller tire as oppose to the stock size tire with out making any modifications. Present, I'm running 245/70-17 tire, a short and wide tire, I'm looking for a taller narrow tire. Thanks

Dually Tires

Hope you dont mind but I wanted to get on this thread as well. I too am looking for a bigger tire for my stock rims. My truck actually has 235-70-17's on the stock wheel. My plan is to put a bigger tire on the stock rim and then raise the front end with a level kit and then place a 1 inch block in the back to keep the "rack" for towing. TDR Brethren ... ... ..... let us hear from ya!!!

not a great deal of tires avalable for the dually's... i remember seeing someone here having interco swamper ltb 34x10. 5x17". . not really practical for everyday use though. . you could probably get away with 285/70/17's with a spacer between the rear duals. .

I have a 2 inch leveling kit on my dodge and im planning on blocking the back too but i cant find any lift blocks 3in wide like my leafs, they are all 2 1/2. If anyone knows of the correct blocks let me know. thanks

I don't know how much different 235/80-17(stock size on most) in comparison to what I have now. It sucks the rim size has to be 17 instead of 16, I don't even know if the 2nd gen dually rims would fit on 3rd gen dually.

I only found two tire sizes on Tire Rack for my truck that is 235/80-17 and 245/70-17 which is what I have now, if Tire Rack doesn't have them I don't know who does.

The reason for the 17's is to clear the larger brakes. I highly doubt you can fit 16's from a second gen. We did get kind of screwed on wheel size, GM has stayed at 16, where there are tons of choices and Ford jumped up to 18's on a lot of SD trucks. I think we are doomed to limited choices on the duallys :(

The taller, narrower size would be 235/80-17, that was the stock size on my dually, and the same size I still run. The truck came with Goodyear GS-A's which I didn't like. Then I tried the Genral Ameritracs, which were OK and now I have a fresh set of Cooper ATR's. Winter is coming, I hope they work better than the others I have tried.

the next option is to step up to a larger rim. there are a couple of places that make nice dualy rims out there. 18, 19, 19. 5, and im sure you can go into the 20's if one were so inclined.

costly initial purchase, but in the end if you plan on keeping the truck, i think it would pay off.
