Getting 2 1/2 gallons of used oil at a change! What locations have you found to take the old oil??

Check for recycling centers in the phone book. Also try calling a jiffy lube place or any service facility and they should know of a place you can take your oil. I collect mine in 5-gallon pails then take it in when they're full.

We have two tractors, a welder, 2 trucks, a car and two vans. I change oil in my daughters car when she comes home too. I have a white plastic 55 Gal. barrel in the shed, and dump everything in it. Transmission fluid, engine oil of all kinds, gear oil, & lawn mower oil too. When it gets about full, we roll it up a ramp into the back of the truck and take it to the Lawrence, Ks. city garage, and dump it into their used oil tank. They sell it to recyclers. Only takes about a year and a half to fill it up!

I take my used oil to the local Discount Auto Parts store.

Our curbside recyclers are required to accept used engine oil. We just put in old one gallon milk jugs, put it out on the curb the night before and the next morning, gone! Also, as John say's, most auto parts stores are required to accept it as well.

Just about all your national auto parts stores ( Napa, Autozone, Checker Auto etc. ) will take used oil. It would only be fair for us as consumers to purchase the oil from them in apprieciation for thier service to the quality of our enviroment.

Here's one I just heard about...
A local woman uses dirty oil to treat her horse barn. Apparently the horses were eating the wood, and don't now. .

And...
A local auto shop heats their shop with something called a dirty oil furnace. This will burn almost anything. He loves to see my coming with my motor oil...
