I'm looking for fuel economy first and power second. I don't know what parts to collect so I thought I would put it out to you guy's you may need to be detailed (I'm new to oil burners) so mods for more power are ok but I don't want to lose mpg.

Oh yea It's a 97 ext cab 4x4 12v auto 2500

Thanks .

Bump the timing upto around 15-16*

Remove the cat and muffler

Get a BHAF or intake system of some kind.

Mild plate (#11 or #12 maybe) and AFC springs/adjustment

First thing: slow down, not easy to but will yeild the greatest results.

Air the tires up to the max.

Drive with your foot and not the cruise, or add a restriction to the cruise control vacuum line to slow down the action of the cruise control.

And oh yeah, slow down, don't be racing when leaving stop lights.

Paul, BHAF means Big Honkin' Air Filter, which is a large round paper filter element that flows well.

I found with larger injectors such as Bosch 300 or BD Power I got better mileage. A bigger injector with timing bumped up and a smooth foot will give better MPG than stockers.

Some have gotten better mileage with a cam plate upgrade as well such as a #10 plate, but once again it won't be better mileage unless you keep your foot out of it.

Speaking of driving easy in the long run your MPG will suffer if you go too easy on the throttle. It's good to run the engine hard once or twice a week to keep carbon and cylinder deposits down.
