Thought I'd slip over from the 1st gen forum to ask a question for my son. He has a 96 3500 and is looking at a trade up to a 98 24 valve truck he found for a good price. Can anyone point out anything special he should look for on this truck as compared to his 96 12v. Any help would be great. Thanks!
Check the vin on the ( forgot the site ) for being wrecked, flood ... .
Is this from a dealer or private party??
besides the regular Dodge problems I would recommend taking it to Cummins, Paying the $100. 00 or so to have them do a complete diagnostics on the engine. They can pull all kinds of stuff from the ECM including any over speeds ( rpm ), time and day/date and duration, max fueling volume ( been bombed or not ), any unusual noises from engine or inj. pump, fuel pressure... ..... Cheap insurance.
