What to use for differential gasket sealant?

RTV high temperature sealant. When I bought the friction modifier at the dodge dealer they wanted me to buy their "special" RTV at $17. 00 for a little tube.

Tom, don't get ripped off at the dealier. Any home supply/hardware store carries 100% silicon sealant. It's exactly the same stuff as the dealier sells. Pick any color you like, it's all the same if it's 100% silicone. RTV means "room temperature vulcanizing" which means it cures at room temperature. I got a tube of black for $2 to do my front diff when I changed the oil.

I use the black also,the goosh out matches the differential.

What do you use as a sealant when changing/removing your differential covers?
