What Truck do I have???

I have a 2004 3500 Dodge dually, 2 wheel drive. I am wanting to add an overload spring so I took a look at my spring pack. I have 4 springs in the main pack & 2 overload springs above the main pack. When I looked at a spring web site it said the "Standard Duty" 3500 had 4 springs in the main pack & the "Heavy Duty" 3500 had 5 springs in the main pack. Another web site said the same thing. According to the number of springs in the main pack I figured I had the Standard Duty truck but on the tail gate of the truck it says "Heavy Duty".

So can someone tell me what is going on here???? This has me confused.

The difference is probably 2x4 to 4x4 for the spring count. Use what you have for spring count to get the parts, ignore the designations.

Why do you want to add a spring to the overload spring pack?

All 03-09 SRW 3500's have a 4/1 main leaf pack with a 2 leaf overload, this is the same 4/1 pack as found in the 2500's.

All 03-09 DRW 3500's have a 3/1 main leaf lack with the same 2 leaf overload as the SRW.

So if you count the lower overload as a lead in the main pack the standard duty, SRW, has 5 leafs and the heavy duty, DRW, has 4 leafs. That being said they are all heavy duty, per the tailgate

Aside from the upper overload found on the 3500 SRW they are the same, at least for 03-09.
