Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) what turbo??

I'm 99% sure i need a new turbo. Im looking for a used hx35 to replace my hy35. what size housing should i get? truck has only 4" exhaust and a intake for now. please help i need to find a turbo and have it installed within a week from today.

Are you ordering a new turbo & trying to see what housing to get? If mods are in your future & money isn't a big concern... . Don't waste money on a stocker. If you have no money for a bigger/better turbo at this time... . Check out the classifieds on TDR. I think I saw one on there or ebay sometimes has deals. The 12 housing is a stock HX35 size & would be fine for you currently, but what is going on with your stocker?

I can't move the wastegate on my hy. the actuator works when i have it unbolted and pressurize it with shop air but no matter how hard i try to move the wastegate it doesnt budge.





The symptoms the truck has is slow spoolup, alot more smoke, and after the turbo spools i hear a whine intead of a whistle. I'm also getting a overboost code.



I am flat out broke right now and I need to have the truck running good by thanksgiving. Going to middle of nowhere for hunting season.

I'm freakin out cause I don't have much extra time or money to fix this and I need to figure out a turbo that will basically bolt on, be ok on performance and be able to handle a edge juice soon because i really need guages and some extra power.

Since no one else has answered. I think you would be fine with a 12cm housing with just a programmer. A 14cm might be nice if you want to go further. I have always read they are supposed to be okay for 350 hp, and it won't be hard to upgrade the housing later either.



I just saw a few turbos in the classifieds both 12 and 14 cm.
