Need some advice on injectors.

'99 2500, 5speed, Banks Stinger Plus system, 4" Exhaust. No other modifications to truck. I pull a tandom axle utility trailer on the weekends weighing anywhere from 5 to 8 thousand pounds depending what's in it. Based on reading other questions and answers on the site, I've come to the conclusion that I need some Advice. I havn't found the clear cut answer I'm looking for. Any suggestions will greatly be appreciated. Oo.

I'm not sure what a Stinger kit includes, but I would get gauges first, EGT and fuel pressure are a must. I tow the same weight as you, but daily, I have the DDIII's, they're nice power and EGT's are contollable as is smoke, no worries towing.

The Stinger-Plus system should have come with gauges as part of the package as well as the Quick-Turbo and give you gains of up to 109hp and 259lb-ft. The Banks OttoMind controls your fueling to match air flow and keep EGTs under control. Larger injectors may raise your EGTs too much so maybe the thing to do is keep your stock injectors and maybe consider a High-Ram air inlet to increase performance.

I don't think these do anything for power - just looks.

Wouldn't a new plate be the first thing to change before the injectors?

He has a 24 valve, No plate to play with ;)

ToolManTimTaylor had the Ottomind and when he put in bigger injectors it screwed up the paramenters of the Ottomind. Truck ran like heck. I believe because of the higher egt's caused by the injectors - it would defuel early when you went to WOT. Tim has a better explanation of what happened. The injectors used were DD I's.

You may be able to get away with RV injectors. Piers has them on special for a good price.

I have a Banks PowerPack and until just recently, a friend in Austin had the Stinger Plus. We both have changed injectors with no ill effects to the Ottomind. I have even added a TTPM (EZ) to my Ottomind with terrific results.

jrhodes, if you are not in a big hurry, I will be in Bakersfield for a couple of months starting in November. You are more than welcome to drive my truck and see what you think. You can e-mail me if interested.

Isn't the "quick turbo" a 14cm² housing, and his stock HX35 has a 12cm² housing... ... ... ... . how is that going to be "quicker"? Seems to me it would be slightly slower, but would allow for slightly lower EGT's?

What kinda of performance increase is the High-Ram air inlet supposed to net you? I have seen nuthing. I bought mine due to its looks.

If your going to pull that much weight, I would stick with 275's or DD1's, this way you can still play with your fueling box and not have too high of EGT's.

Just my opinion.

He's not really towing that much, as my post above says, I tow that and more daily with DDIII's and a stock turbo, and have no EGT issues, in fact last weekend I towed a 35' TT through the hiils of Kentucy to do some testing. I had no issuse's with EGT's and it was 90*+ ambiant temp, and for the record, had no problems with my electric fans either. With the fueling box off, the smoke was almost nill, although I had the EZ still operating.

JRHODES, I had the Stinger plus and went with 275's, nice improvement. I then changed to DD 2's, very big improvement but keep your eye on EGTs if towing up a long hill. Some smoke at low RPMs but not bad. I would recommend DD2's.

If your want to wake things up after you get used to DD2's change your Ottomind for a PE Comp. The Comp on level 2 is pretty close to the Ottomind in top end power but is quicker and smoother at lower RPMs. At level 5 it's awesome.

With the Stinger plus and DD2's I dynoed 366 RWHP. I would estimate with the Comp on level five I am close to 450. With the Stinger plus and 275s it was 264. Stinger Plus alone was probably around 230.

As you can see, bombing is a slippery slope:D :D proceed with caution.

I put a Banks Stinger Plus system on my Dads '00 3500. The truck never seamed to pull as good as the Banks people said it would so I put in a set of 275's. The truck was a rocket but you couldn't control the EGT's. I don't recommend any injectors with the Banks system... ... ... . Blue
