I have some issues with the transfercase. I just put a new U-joint on the rear drive shaft. I reinstalled the drive shaft. Now it leaks AFT out the rear seal of the transfercase. I think my screw up was not refilling the Transfercase back up too its level.

Just wanted to know if that plug on the transfercase was a torx type plug and what size is it?

Looks like I'm gonna have to get a new seal too. How much ATF does the tc case hold I might as well change it out and put in some new.

I had to think about that plug, also, when I did my first TC fluid change. It's actually just a standard 3/8" square drive. I think the TC holds 6. 5 pints.

On my 96 the plug is actually a torq head. If I remember correctly a 3/8" square drive will work. I always use a big crescent wrench. I don't remember the exact quantity of fluid the T-Case holds, but for my 241HD it is between 3-4 quarts (3 wasn't quite enough, I guess 6. 5 sounds about right)

It would be a big Torx like a 45 or 50 (?) I don't recall. Or, just use the hexagonal perimeter of the plug with a big socket or a wrench.
