I have a 2003 Dodged 2500 Turbo Diesel with 55,000 miles, I haul a 37ft Montana 5th wheel. I need advice as to what I should install for more pulling power and to improve my fuel consumption when pulling. I am new to this forum.

Might be a typo, but I think you would want to DEcrease fuel consumption when pulling, wouldn't you? Back to the real issue, I have a TST PM3 I use and it works great, but I don't tow alot. I hear the Smarty has helped with fuel mileage for a lot of people, would imagine on the right setting it would tow well also. Also, since this is your first post, I would fill out your signature with everything about your truck, this helps everyone know what you have done, so when you have questions like this, we can give the best advice possible. Other than that, welcome to the site!

Welcome to the TDR! First thing we need to know is what your truck is equipped with and what your intentions are. Transmission, gear ratio, stock HP level etc. Then we will need to know if you have any other mods done such as intake, exhaust, turbo, intercooler, injectors etc... Where do you want to be with your HP?

First mod to do is guages of some sort. Either digital/electronic such as the X Monitor type, or mechanical. Fuel pressure being the key one, with EGT being a close second. If you have an automatic, you are rather limited in mods before you have to upgrade the parts in the transmission.

Personally, I would start with the intake side for modifications since the exhaust can handle some good upgrades before becoming a bottleneck. Some sort of air intake mod, whether that be an AFE PG7 or a simple drop in. Better breathing will help immensely with your fuel consumption and EGT's. There is tons of information on this site to help you make an informed decision.

I would go with gauges first, either the BD X monitor or others, depending on what your personal preference is

then a AFE stage 2 air filter

programmer such as a Smarty

and then maybe a 4 inch exhaust

and that would give you a good pulling machine with great MPG

I have a 48RE, 2500 Turbo 2003 3. 73 rear, not sure about the stock HP (what is it first), as you can see I am fairly new to all this. Thanks though for the help so far. I have not installed anything on this truck since I have owned new. Everything is stock.
