After getting some ideas from here and calling around, I'm thinking about going with injectors and an Edge E-Z. I have an 01 High Output, would the Bosch 275's and the Edge EZ box be a decent combination. The injectors are on ebay for $225. Would I be better off spending my money on DD2's, which are about twice as much money. I really don't pull anything, just want more power!

More Power

I also have a 01. DON'T waste your money on 275s,get II's at least. I hope you have gauges and are ready to do your clutch. Mine lasted 3weeks before it slipped. Eric

Here's my experience

I didn't want to go to radical all at once so I took baby steps first EZ then 275's then EZ Comp then DD2's now having done this I would have been way better off with 2's and the comp up front but not knowing how I would like them I started small and built up slowly my problem is I have NO self restraint and am a hp JUNKY I could have saved money and Listened to some wise advice from other local Junkies. 275's are nice and even better with an EZ, they definitely give a kit in the butt, but 2's or more are better, it depends on what kind/ how much hp you are in search of.

Good luck on your decision

Craig

^ What he said ^

I started off small and ended up going bigger later. It all depends on what you want but I think the majority of us did this and wish we would have done it right the first time. ;)

I agree with these guys... more is never enough. I'd go for the DDII's and a Comp up front. You get more power, more flexibility, and more smiles for the money. The ETH engine seems to respond better to injectors than boxes, or so I've read (I have an ETC, which is the other way around).

Oh, I'd also consider the cost of a SBC in all this... you're gonna need it.

Of course, it's not my $$ or my truck. YMMV.

DD2= waste of money!

Don't waste your money on the dd2s. Either go straight to the 3s or stick with 275s. The EZ and 275 combo is the BEST value for bombing, and you might just want to stop there. EZ and 275 gives great power, better mileage, and doesn't require a bunch of other mods to run. With this, you won't need an exhaust system ($400), clutch ($1200ish) or an intake system ($200). These are the "hidden" costs of going beyond 275s and an EZ. Stick with the 275s until you are ready to spend SERIOUS money and take the plunge. Once you DO get there, consider this:

The DD3s really don't smoke any more than the 2s. The cost-per-hp is CHEAPER with the DD3s. You can control the heat/smoke factor with your foot. The 3s are a substantial increase over the DD2s in power, but not really worse in the bad ways (smoke, heat, economy, etc. )

Clutch isn't a consideration, since you will shred it with either one

Consider this:

275 injectors= $275, 40HP.

DD2 injectors= $480, 90HP

DD3 injectors= $560, 115HP

I went with the 275s until I save the money for a clutch. Then I am going to step up to EDMs in a stage 3 or 4 after I get air and exhaust done.

Don't waste your money on the 2s unless you just want to stop right there. Have your end goal in mind.

I am going to end up with EZ, EDM 3s (or 4s), and all the other mods I need to run that much fuel (intake, clutch, exhaust, PDR40, etc). I should be able to have a lot of fun without tapping the wire.

Do your transmission/clutch first, then gauges, then you don't have to worry about it. The DDII's and comp REALLY woke up my truck! I don't know much about DD3's, other than I heard I will smoke a lot. . Going to Muncie next, and am hoping to learn a lot more about such things!!

Happy as heck with my 275's and EZ :D

But I was just looking for some more punch for pulling my 5r... .

Figure on gauges for sure, and better think about a clutch if you drive with a heavy foot ;) ... ... ... Good Luck, Phil

Thanks for the replies, I ordered the 275's today, I order the EZ tomorrow and the gauges. I think that will be enough power at this point in time. I've had the truck for two years and have only 15k miles on it. I can't justify spending the $ on a new clutch right now. Now I can't wait to get them installed, something I'll be doing with my son. :) :) That in itself will make it worth while! I imagine I'll be doing a search for hints on injector installation soon! :p

Before you buy the EZ. . check the prices of the Comp box. . with out tapping the wire it will perform simialar to an EZ. . but you will have room to grow (by tapping the wire) if you ever up grade the clutch... The prices are not that much more for the comp box. . unless you can find a good deal on a used EZ. Also nice to have the inside control... .

Personally there are days when I wish I had gone with stage 3's (where power is concerned) because I didn't notice ANY difference. However, I did notice almost a 3 mpg increase which is a plus. So making a statement like "DD2= waste of money!" is far from the truth. If that is the case then you might as well throw your EZ in the trash and get a Comp. Everyone is not out to get 500hp out of their trucks so I think it's unfair to them to make this type of statement.

I'm not attacking you personally, it's just that when I look at your signature and see what you're running I can't help but wonder what you're basing this on. When someone asks a question (myself included) it is because they do not know and they are relying heavily on the opinions they receive here. If those opinions are not based on experience IMO they aren't worth talking about (generally).
