How do I cut a paving stone in ½?

Just curious, but I was wondering about others. My favorite job was one I had when I was just out of high school, and it was summer only. I was doing camp ground maintenance, drove about 150 miles a day, emptied trash cans, fire pits, and so forth. Didn't pay near what I make today, but I was always around travelers that were out enjoying themselves, and I was in the great outdoors. Believe it or not it was enjoyable.

Are you in the field of your choice? What is best job you've had, not by pay but for your personal satisfaction?

BTW, I do like my current job.

I guess that I would have to say that my current 'full time'job is the one that I enjoy the best. I am a network analyst for a county in Ca. It is my job to make sure the path between the file servers and the end user desktop is working. . which would include routers, switches and T1 lines.

My part time job is woodworking. I was raised in a family that has done carpenter work since my family came over from England and Ireland. When it is time to retire from my current job I would enjoy having a big wood shop with all the tools.

Oh and yes I forgot. . some of the most important jobs like husband and father:D

Where else would I get to look at the computer any time I want to,print what I want to,use the phone when I want, call who I want, take a dump when my bowels want to empty, etc, etc, etc, etc Maybe I best shut up. No comment. :-{} :D

My current job I like very much. I work at home for myself designing custom homes. Although working at home means weather your at home, being at home or home being at work, I'm always at work when the phone rings. While I was getting this business started, I worked for the state of Wyoming. I was an "off system bridge inspector" That meant I inspected every county and city owned bridge in the state. We worked 4-10's in the field, always home on Thursday afternoon. Rarely worked overtime. I got an all expense paid tour of Wyoming. Fished a bunch. We had a little gas grill on board and we'd pick a nice bridge to end the day on and cook out and fish right there. It was a very relaxed gig. No pressure. There was some danger climbing bridges especially some of the trusses. We had one that at the top you were 80 feet off the water. We had some others that went over some deep canyons, too. Got over any heights problems I had in a hurry. I miss the adventure, but the pay stunk!

I've been a computer systems analyst for 10 years now. Pretty much burned out and bored with kompooters these days, but in this economy..... what the heck else is gonna pay the mortgage and BOMBing bills as well??

I worked at Porschshoppe working on Porsche's and BMW's. But that wasn't the best. I was a work-a-holic but wanted a vaction, so I quit Porschshoppe and went to work at Callville Bay resort at Lake Mead. I was grounds keeper. The pay was not great but I did get free housing. I had no bills so it wasn't too bad. I also volunteered for the Park Service and took out their boats. Had a great time. I once was asked if I could kinda hang around these three houseboats that had 83 LSU sorority girls wearing just bottoms, tops, or nothing at all, to make sure no trouble started. So I was there for 3 days making sure no trouble started with all the "fishermen" that were hanging around. I was the only guy that was invited aboard those boats. But of course I was in uniform and working so I was well behaved.

I went out every weekend and seen many things. I became an EMT and did search and rescue. I did this for just over seven years. Had a great time, sure wish I could still do it.

For 7 years I delivered bottled water. One of the places I had to go every week was the womens dressing room for a fantastic nudie bar where they kept the bottles. I was supposed to knock hard before entering but sometimes I must have forgot. ;) All those strippers getting dressed and undressed "wood" make my day. Oo.

I worked as a gas dock attendant at a marina when I was in high school. It wasn't a glamorous job (I also ran the pump out station for "waste") but I was on the water, was out in the sun all day, got to talk with people from all walks of life, made friends with the local river cop (which saved me a couple of times), and got to watch bikinis and beautiful people ride by all day long. Granted I was making $3. 35 an hour, but when you're sixteen that's enough for weekend money.

One thing I learned was that the rich folk didn't get rich by giving tips... . I pumped $600 worth of gas for this guy once, and he wanted to argue with me about how many times the pump rolled over. I pumped this hanging off the side of his boat for an hour because he pulled up on the wrong side. Yup, no tip. BUT, a guy that came up in a ten foo tjohn boat with his wife and dog, who bought 3 gallons of gas for his 2 horse outboard motor, gave me a bigger tip than what he spent in gas..... I was impressed. SO I guess it was one of those jobs that was pretty cool, but I learned quite a bit about people as well.

While in high school I was a vallet parking attendant at a big fancy health club... no kidding we actually parked car for people who where coming to work out. . Got to drive all sorts of real nice cars and trucks. Learned to drive a stick shift there, had the owner show me how, it was a camaro... told me to rev it up and pop the clutch. I did and left a 20 foot burn out right in front of him. . he gave me a good tip for showing off for him. That was the most fun a job gets... .

My current job is not bad, I make good $$ and as long as the computers run I can surf the TDR as much as I want.

The best job i ever had is the one i still have, travelling all over the country in luxury tour busses with my favorite bands, and seeing the shows and partying with them every night. Like any job there are some bad points, but for the most part, i have no complaints. I love being a Locomotive engineer also, but in this day and age, they have taken all the fun out of the job.

MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) section chief in the army. The track was even powered by a Cummins (V903) :D. Second best? Reconnaissance sergeant for an MLRS platoon, I got to do some great 4-wheelin' in my good ol' 6. 2L-powered humvee!

My current job is pretty good, too (forklift/aerial work platform mechanic), but I still miss my army days.

Lots of "missing" revenuers down there eh?:-laf

I worked in the local Mercedes dealer for a while when I was in high school.

When I had my own tractor trailer it was fun for a while, then it got boring.

My current job is demanding at times but provides me with the challenge that I like. Now, if I did not have this job I would not be so close to the city and that would be even better... . BUT I have too many years into a great retirement to leave. Does that make sense? Thats why you gotta hit the road every chance you get!

The one I got now

I work on hydroeletric generators. Anything from new cores, windings, any mechanical work bearings etc. you name it. I especially love disassembly and reassembly work. It's just something about lifting/moving parts in the several hundred thousand or even million pound range. I love workin with the big stuff and I get lots of it every day.

Best part is every job is somewhere new. I end up working at dams all over North America so the scenery is always different. Many Dams are also a little (big) piece of history.
