Towing Dilemma

Long Bed Truck + Short Bed Camper = ?

What wires do I cross to activate my brakes on my TT. I'm having intermittent brake problems. Time to solder and double shrink wrap.

TIA

Eric

I'm not real clear on your question but the trailer brake magnet wire is just a hot wire that is voltage/amp controlled with the controller. Ck your ground between the trailer and truck. Don't depend on the ball for ground. Ck all the connections at the backing plates on the trailer. They use crimp connectors and they may be loose. Hope this helps. Chris

I remember seeing somewhere, that if you cross two terminals on the trailer plug, it will apply the brakes. This helps a lot when working on them.

The only way I know to activate the trailer brakes is to pull the emergency breakaway cable and it makes a direct connection to fully apply the trailer brakes. You have to have the battery on the trailer hooked up also. This works independant of the brake controller. If you use this method to test the magnets on the wheels,I would not leave the current on too long as you might melt the magnets because you are giving them a full 12 volts. Chris
