2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission what would cause the dashlights to go out????

A friend of mine has no dashlights and he says he checked the fuses - what do you think needs to be replaced????

first test , try to find what could be wrong by guess or advice , then test to verifi then replace, other wize you'll be fixing like some dealers but you will be spending money not making it. use a test lite and probe the fuse to dash lite and turn the nob for dimmer control and if the test lite lites and dims then you'll need to go upstream to dash , if not then it may be the head lite switch.

Are his tail lights out also (not brake lights)? If they are its a fuse under the hood.
