I have an 01 which was built in Jan 2000. I have the 53 block and it has cracked... . Getting a mexican block of the same year...

So how many 53 blocks are there and what year are they?

I have the 2001, don't know when the build date was as I haven't done the research yet. Hasn't cracked yet. O well, if it does can't do much about it except fix it in one fashion or the other (stitch or change it out). I've had close to 100,000 miles of fun with this truck, so I'm not complaining too much.

Eric,

My white 01 was built in Mexico and did not have any casted numbers on the block. (At least the 1 inch tall ones)

I purchased the truck in June of 2000.

Y2k with 170k on the ticker still going strong and on the original VP44 as well with only one LP change so far. The "53" stamping is under the VP44 down low just above the oil pan if memory serves me correct and I think it is easier to see from underneath. I also found it again when I was changing the oil filter, the stamp was behind the oil filter.

98. 5 built 8-98. 53 went @17,500(is that the record?). Replaced by another 53 of course(they had to get rid of them). Current mileage 51,000

My engine came out of a 99 and I noticed a crack last week. I have another 53 sitting on the floor that we pulled out of a 2000 with a 12" crack in it also. My friend 99 also cracked at 100 miles.

Going to lock n stich mine to see if it holds.....

Malcolm
