What year was it that Dodge and cummins were made to put on the AFTERBURNER exhaust system? would an 07 have this trash on it.

Thanks

BIG

Late 2007

Early 07=5. 9 engine with in cylinder egr and no aftertreatment

07. 5 and up=6. 7 engine with egr valve and exhaust aftertreatment

Hey BIG! I thought with you being in the Air Force you would love them after burners... . :D

Jet afterburners work JUST A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT, on Jets you put more fuel into it, and get substantially more thrust. The truck is just to make money for the people that fix the crap.

So looks like I need to find out the VIN #'s for the early 07 trucks it would be just like mine then?

Thanks BIG

Simply ask if it's a 5. 9 or a 6. 7 Cummins. No 5. 9's had the "afterburner" exhaust ;)

Hope all is well with you BIG. :)

Simple enough, even for me. Its a used truck that's for sale in So Calif. My Ex Boss and his Wife are retiring and moving up here, and need a 4x4 this is a nice one with only 65k and most of the 4x4's in So Calif are for show only they really have no need for them MOST OF THE TIME, its a MINE is BIGGER than YOUR'S thing.

All is FINE, just been working my Butt off building homes and barns, watering systems for livestock, that some family members came up to finish off things that I didn't feel comfortable with doing. I was getting tired, been at it since before the snow melted just about everyday worked being a 15 hour day takes its toll on an old codger. Feels good to do the have-to-chores and split a little wood each day and drink a few beers and watch the wife work in the garden in her pretty little cotton sun dress!!! Once in a while she even smiles at me!!!!!!!

My '07 5. 9L was an October 2006 built truck. Same engine configuration as your '04. 5. The 6. 7's showed up after the Jan 1 2007 build date.

The truck that they are looking at has an automatic, knowing this guys wife I don't think she needs to be having another peddle on the floor to think about. Nice gal but not real handy with cars and trucks.

The only reason I ask is, there was a changeover in the G56 sometime after my truck was built (Oct. 6, 2006) and the end of December. A few 5. 9's came with the higher gear ratio G56 (AD vs. AE code) that came with the 6. 7's. Made a needed difference in the highway cruise rpm compared to the one I have. Mine is great for towing, but it just screams on the highway with the 3. 73 gear. I believe that Motorhead has the later trans in his '07.

They sent some pictures but I cant seem to get them off the Email and on to the site, looks really clean and well taken care of and has Never had a black box or any mod's done to it which is a plus in my thinking.

That's the way you want to find them, especially with that low of mileage. I have 69K on mine, but mine has never been a daily driver.

They will need a 4x4 when they move up here, they have never really drove in the snow, so they move to Montana :-laf Like I always told them if its that bad outside with snow DONT GO OUT!!! its called retirement put another log on the fire and stay home. They will be here in about a month so I get to see it then if they buy it, sounds like they will.

Yea, not exactly weather for a rookie driver in the snow. Thankfully, these 3rd gens have been excellent in the snow for me. I've only ever been stuck once in all the years I've had them, but even that was my own fault.

I think it will be a quick learning experience, for them he is not totally unsure of his ability's but its been a long time since he lived in it. They should be ok just have to get a Espar heater for them to install I wouldn't be without mine.

I'd love to have an Espar on mine. They have them on all the new trucks at work and they are all they are said to be.

Hi BIG- hope all's well.
I have a tattle tale, and it's never let me down. This may be THE test.
2007 and down trucks are 5. 9's they have the chrome letters and numbers on the door. Like this.

2007. 5 and up trucks have the 6. 7 with the DPF, etc, and have the newer badges on the door- rectangular with the colors. like this.
