Hope you guys can help me out. A friend of mine would like to buy a 2nd Gen. Dodge/Cummins but, would like to have the Quad Cab. I believe their was a time when they had no x-tra doors. Then they added one rear door and, later, two rear doors. Do any of you guys know what years they added the the single and also the two rear doors?

Thank You, for your help. Joe F. (Buffalo)

They started the quad cab in the middle of the 98 model year. Dodge never had a single rear door, they went from none to two. They also started the 24 valve engine in the middle fo the 98 model year however slightly later than the quad cab. A rare find is the quad cab 12 valve combination, my buddy has one in a dually with a 5 speed.

I got my quad cab in Dec 97. It's one of the early ones I guess, it has a 12 valve and a 5 speed. All options, long bed 4x4.

They had a "club cab" prior to my truck, but it didnt have any doors.

For the '98 model year, the Quad Cab was an option (about $1000 in Canada) over the Club Cab, once the dealers started ordering almost all quads over the clubs, the club was dropped and the quad became standard for '99.

I had a '98 24 valve Quad cab, But there was a 24 valve Club cab on the lot as well.

Am I correct in assuming that the "Club Cab" has no rear, extra doors and the "Quad Cab" has 2 rear, extra doors? Also, was it the 98's or 99's that first came with the 4 doors?

Thanks, again, for your replys. I know my buddy appreciates your help. Joe F. (Buffalo)

Yes, your assumption is correct. Quad cab was an option in 98, but they also sold Club cab. 99 was the first full year of Quad cab only.

I kind of think a 24V club would be more rare than a 12V quad. ???

Yes, a 24v Club-Cab is definately a rare bird. The 98 12v's in general are more desireable though, especially the Quad-Cab Short bed 5sp.

When I ordered my '99 Quad cab in january of '99 the order options shown were "regular cab", "club cab" , and "quad cab", there may be some '99 club cabs out there??

98 was the first year of the Quadcab. They also offered a Clubcab in 98

99 had the option of the Quadcab or Clubcab.

2000 was the first year that the Quadcab was the ONLY option.

I got one of those!!

98 was the first year of the Quad Cab, as mentioned. 98 was also the first year of a shortbed in a diesel. :) 98 was also the last year of the 12V. :{ I personally have seen more 24V club cabs than 12V quad cabs.

Actually, about a year ago, there was a car lot south of me that had a 2000 shortbed cummins (24V) that wasnt a quad cab. It also had no power windows, locks, carpet, or anything. it was a stripper. but it was a club cab.

My grandparents actually specifically wanted a club instead of a quad on their old 99 CTD. they said that they didnt haul around people enough in the back seat to need a quad cab. They were never able to sell it outright, the ended up trading it in because it was hard to sell for some reason.
