I have been interested in getting a first gen. for a while now. I found one locally yesterday. It's a black 1992 2x4 with a camper top. I has 153k miles, auto trans, and looks to be in decent shape. The paint is real rough though. I have not looked at it up close or driven it, just talked to the owner over the phone. He is asking $5800 obo. Sounded high to me, be he said that seems to be what others are getting for them. What do you guys think, Thanks. .

I paid 6 or 7k for mine. That was in Canadian Dollars. Mine had around 167,000 miles on it. AC, manual, no duals. no rust, body straight. Paint was fine until I brought it back to NJ. Now its displaying typical hood/paint problems. Can't complain.

I paid 5 for mine. It looked like it needed some real serious TLC all around. 166k miles. Paint was dull and some rusted out panels. But the base truck was very sound and still a vergin in terms of BOMBs. The transmission oil was fresh and no oil in the coolant. It had the VE pump/ps pump and vaccum pump replaced.

I'd check the privious mentioned items. If all is well I'd probably pay that for a sound truck. Offer 5,000 and go from there.

I know a lot of folks will say you'll get one for 2,500..... or less. All depens on what YOU want from the truck.

I paid 3500 for my 91 LE. It was listed by a local truck store that normally is sky high on prices, I had never been able to get close to buying anything from him before. Asking price was listed at 3995, when I asked him about the old Cummins, he said if I wanted it I could have it for 3500. I did not argue, told him I would be right back. Went to the bank, withdrew the money and had me a "new ride" the next day. 182,000 then 189,000 now, trans oil was clean when I changed it. Motor oil stays as clean as my '03 does, uses about a quart in 1500 miles, all six valve covers seep, has some suface rust along the bottom of both doors, the hood and roof have peeled almost all the paint off. It does super on fuel, sounds great, drives great, I have no complaints at all, I would gladly take another! Glen
